Is true.
Sfried posted in the random thread the reference to Nintendo Power where the game is confirmed.

EDIT: Ishmael, the game plays with the remote and nunchuck but is not a very good experience as using the classic controller.
It has more good chances of market in Europe (here in Italy Tastsunoko is a legend for many old fashioned otakus) than US, imho.

In response to Ishmael's question...

So what is the consensus on TvC? Is it a "serious" fighting game or is it viewed as being more of a lark? Does it have a following? Can it actually be played on the Wii without a specialized controller? I've suddenly become aware that outside of marvelling at the roster choices I haven't been paying much attention to this game.

I had this lengthy post about my feelings for the game, but I looked at it and thought "who would want to read all this crap?" So you get the lightning round version for now.

I would not call it a serious fighting game. As a casual player (which may make my opinion more or less valid in this case) I would rank it slightly above like...Basara Cross or Hokuto no Ken? Dunno about the following.

I'd get a classic controller if you don't have one already. I don't think a joystick is necessary, though.

To me, the game's greatest strength, outside of its overall novelty, is that it has a fairly large number of completely new characters that have interesting playing styles. I feel like most of those characters boil down to the "similar feel" that the other Vs games suffer from, but on the surface at least, you have a lot of unique stuff to play with without it getting bothersome in its complications. (Motochika from Basara X, I'm looking at you)

That's good enough for me given how I can get into Hokuto but just can't get into Guilty Gear XX.

I really just want to play as Ken and Jun and Casshan/Casshern on the Tatsunoko side. I wish Speed had made it into this game.

EDIT : I HATE ALL OF YOU.

I voted to keep Ishmael's thread and erase the other one, just because it had more words.

Random bits of info I remember about the game:

*If you don't have an arcade stick (and who could blame you for a Wii) the classic controler is just fiine. If you don't have aa classic controller, go buy one asap.
*it has a small bugs that makes it freeze if a GC controller is plugged when you start the game. just unplug it and plug it once it's started, and you should be fine.
*The autosave feature is not ON by default, so remember to save once you have unlocked a few characters.

As for the game itself, I remembered a very fun game to play casually with friends, but a bit broken (Karasu and Ryû>>>>> everyone else).
I just checked the 2ch forum, and things seem to have evolved quite a bit in the meantime :

Main character
S Ken Karas Yattaman1 Doronjo (I'm not sure if it's the usual fate of all technical characters ruling everyone once you've studied them and only them for 6 month, or just a joke to have Doronjo in the "S" category)

S- Rock Chunli

A Cashern Jun Ryû Morrigan

B Tekkaman Batsu Roll

C Polymer Alex Sôki

Assist Ranking

S Polymer Morrigan Chunli Rock

S- Karas Tekkaman Ryû

A Jun Batsu Alex Roll

B Ken Cashern Doronjo Sôki

C Yattaman1

If people have played it long enough to actually have an assist ranking, then I guess the crowd have played it quite deep enough (though I'd like to know how Polymer and Ryû could have fallen so low). Also, this is a ranking for serious players (has the game een selected for the Tôgeki?) so no Wii characters nor giants are in it (though Gold Lightern has been studied quite a lot if I recall correctly).

The problem for the game to be enjoyed completely casually (beside the obscurity of many characters) is that it has quite a few beginner killers (Rockman, Saki, Karas, the two giants, Sôki, Batsu...). If you crack the trick (or just don't use them unfairly against a newbie) it's very good for a casual friend night. I loved Alex and Sôki, even though they are clearly a bit weaker then the rest.

Also, the major quality of the game is that, of all the cast, it has only 5 characters that have already appeared in other fighting games. Everyone else is new, so you have plenty of room to explore and discover.

I don't understand the game being released in the US. I was dead sure it would have the Tatsunoko half replaced by Marvel characters (you KNOW it make sense to have Sentinel instead of Gold Lightern). But if this mean we can have a sequel, oh, god, BRING IT ON !!!

I wonder if they will change anything to the game (or even fix the small bugs I talked about.

"TvC to US with more characters??!!" , posted Mon 18 May 23:09post reply

I found TvC to be a lot of fun casually, Tekkaman, Yatterman-1, and Alex are my favorites. I never got onto MvC2 much cause it was too fast with the craziness. TvC is much slower so I find chaining attacks much more manageable. I also liked how capcom sandwiched the Japanese release of TvC between SFHD and SFIV for a good change of pace.

As for the US release from the Nintendo Power scans Capcom might add some additional characters to this version. Given that Speed Racer is Tatsunoko's most famous manga and anime in the US I guess he is a smart choice. Don't know who they'll put in the capcom side but for the heck of it Nathan "RAD" Spencer of Bionic Commando (old nes/remake one NOT new friggin dreadlock one) could be a fun character to fight with.

Wow, given this news in general, I almost don't want to get my hopes up for extras, but yes, I was originally shocked to hear that Speed was not included in the game, but I have no clear idea what his Japanese popularity is. Berg Katse would be appreciated, personally.

Capcom has made some interesting and surprising choices all along here, so I can't really say who I'd suspect. Bionic Commando could be a convenient inclusion given the remake/new game/whatever lately, but then so would more Street Fighter boringness. I almost don't want it to be someone like Strider or Captain Commando.

FAKE EDIT: Okay, nevermind, I would love it if it was Captain Commando. Now that I've said that I'll accept no one else!

Awesome! But: curses! I've tried that technique before to get favorite Justice Gakuen characters like Daigo into my Capcom games, but they don't respect my iron will and my perfect attendance at Gedou High School.

I'm sure Italian "Yattaman" fans are thrilled.

Daaamn Capcom's REALLY going to have to explain how they got this to happen.

I'm really curious as to how they pulled it off as well, but even if I never find out, I'm glad they did.
