Well worth it for TF2 and Portal and to a lesser extent Episode 2.
I'm not at all a fan of HL2 or Episode1.
They seem more like tech demos for the physics engine than actual games.
The AI is worse than in the original Halflife. Enemies will literally not notice you approaching if you are holding a piece of furniture in front of yourself with the gravgun. The only tactic employed by the AI is to run straight at you while firing and throwing a grenade if you run around a corner.
They give the illusion of being in a big open world, but prevent you from exploring any of it.
The only affect raising or lowering the difficulty has is the amount of damage the player takes from the spay of wildly-inaccurate fire generated by the enemies. So your tactics don't change any, you just end up reloading your last save more often.

Never one to pass up a bargain, I recently picked up a cheap copy of Orange Box. While it was a dollar or two more than $10 it still seemed like a good deal. Plus, while that purchase greatly added to my pile of games I need to get around to playing it's all contained in one convenient, easy to store package.
