Oh my.... it's really more similar to a wild war robot than an humanoid entity, it hasn't the EVA feel to it, except for the face. The colors too...I prefer the old EVA 05 design.
The news also says something related to Asuka's surname. It is her surname changed or the seyuu's?

I'm not usually a fan of redesigns of iconic characters, but I was pleasantly surprised by the new Evas. They make sense. The new Unit 2 looks more heroic and hot blooded, and the new Unit-01 looks even more lanky and scary. Thankfully they didn't mess with them too much, just accentuated certain things to give them a bit more character.
I wish all redesigns of classic properties could be handled this way.
