quote: Ah...did anyone mention Hakushun Daimaoh and the stupid mini games for Wii yet?
I believe they were mentioned last topic, or at least, I made a point about HakuDai last week, for the Famitsu reveal, which Iggy elaborated on.
And any way, I don't see what's wrong with the mini games. They're just going to do more to attract casual gamers and be nice lil extras, just like those "stupid mini games" that were in the likes of Pocket Fighter and the Rival Schools series. XD
On another note, the game is confirmed to be yet another game developed 8ing, with Capcom over-seeing. Guess one of those old guesses of mine from months ago panned out!
http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1218182_1407.html
Obviously, it looks like Capcom decided to have them on more "strict leash" than they did with the Fate games. Kinda like how Capcom had DIMPS on a strict leash when it came to SF4, I guess...

Falcon, if you know me well enough, you know that Viewtiful Joe has always had a spot in my heart. And he was, really, the only one of the "Clover" bunch who had a real chance of being here any way.

I don't see what's the big deal.
The Wii "exclusives" aren't even that. They're only exclusive to the Wii version until they're time-released in the arcade version (which, from what I hear, is basically set for when the Wii version comes out soon after the Arcade release).
So in the end, arcade and Wii owners still get to play with all the characters that stand to be in this game. Arcade players just have to be slightly inconvenienced by the "wait" for the console port, for the arcade version to "catch up".
Hey, it beats having to do anything silly memory cards, in my opinion...

There's a mobile phone video of it somewhere, but it gave me a seizure so no.
The final boss (Capcom side ?) is Tokoyami no Sumeragi, Ôkami's last boss.
If you don't know Ôkami but know your fighting game history, imagine Wakuwaku 7's last boss (and for the last form, Smash Bros' master hand).
1st form : a big sphere that rolls around. 2nd form : strange appendages and robot feet appear. Power geyzers all over. 3rd form : back to the big sphere with a massive hand. Lot of attacks, flames, tornado, meteors, missiles, grab, etc.

Okami has a ROBOT?? Isn't it supposed to take place in feudal Japan?

The last boss has a metal armor of sort, nothing more. It's a evil entity with more forms. And yeah, it's feudal Japan with extratterestrials and god beings.
But is it confirmed that TvC last boss is the same last boss from Ookami? Or is just some random godly thing with similar design?

I think it's even worse with Ivan. When the boss decides to launch tornadoes after tornadoes, I don't see what to do except guard and die of chip damage.
At least with Ivan, you can afford to actually to hang back and shoot at Yami. At lower difficulties, you might actually do well to do just that.
With Lighty though, it's a different story. He, QUITE literally, has NOTHING to help him in that fight. Falcon and I were basically going back and forth, and the best thing we could do was to spam jumping mid, because that was the only thing that Lighty had that didn't have too much lag on it, such that Lighty could block after he landed.
I really don't see why they couldn't allow Lighty and Ivan to at least be able to do an SNK-style dodge or something. Even something small like that (which could have been mapped to the Partner button that they never use), would have been something to help them out... XD

List of characters the producer would have liked to use but couldn't for various reasons, but please please buy this game so we can make a sequel and we'll try to make them appear:
Condor Joe, Yattaman 2go, JJ, Shurato, Soultaker, Komugichan, Daikyôjin, Berg Katse, Tekkaman Evil, Braiking boss
Leon, Tyrant, Nash, Hinata, Date Masamune, Arthur, Ibuki, Leilei, Vega, Zero Gôki, Nero, Princess Tiara, Jun, Rouge
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah. This is weak. Your game doesn't sell well, but, man... This is really, really weak. I hate you. (In case you wondered, the game is really bombing horribly... What a waste).
At least, it shows who was considered and who wasn't. Too bad for Deyande... And it's funny how none of those characters appear in the endings.

Damn it! Not only does it suck that these characters didn't make it, but the fact that it isn't selling well doesn't bode well for the current fighting game boom we've got going. There's no telling how long Cap is going to be back in the fighting game arena, and low sells of this doesn't raise much hope of them being around long.
Hopefully, the surprisingly good sales of SSF2THDR and the hopefully good sales of SFIV will balance this out.
I'm telling you, the game would sell like hotcakes here in the States. People are STILL playing the hell out of MvC2 and are jonesing for a sequel, plus there are plenty of Wii owners here.
Er.....

It's hard to know... But the BlazBlue fans are really hateful around the board. SF4 gets a lot of flame too. The general opinion is also that the game target is too wide, old men in their early 40s who might like Tatsunoko can't play long aerial rave combo oriented games, and the Capcom side may talk more to another demographics, the early 30-something, except Sôki who isn't popular at all. All in all, it's not that the game is widely hated : it's not Basara X or KOF 2003. It's just that the fans aren't vocal enough to let enough space between 2 stupid "the game is crap", "the game plays like crap" and "the game looks like crap" troll posts. Same thing on Nico²: there aren't enough fans of the game to post even remotely good fighting videos.
The final hope of the game is the Tôgeki. More people might buy it next month to train a little, and if we see entertaining matches and not just endless Ryû/Karasu duels, maybe the game will light up? But then, the game might already be in the bargain sales bin...
Speaking of the Tôgeki: I think it's the first time no SNKP game is selected at ALL. Have I missed something? I'm worried.

Well, the funny thing is, I think the majority of good vids just end up YouTube, courtesy of the likes of tianyuan and etc.
As can be gauged from his vids, what can definitely be concluded thus far is that the old "Hokuto no Ken" crowd has taken to this game like a duck. Even the ones who "retired" from HnK, like this game, and they'll probably be the ones seen playing the game at Tougeki.
As you said, it'll largely depend on how high level play looks. If it garners interest from Tougeki, then that might be all the difference in this game getting some longevity (and then, a sequel after that, maybe).

I think it was a matter of bad timing and probably poor planning, on SNK's part.
As it stands right now, KOF XII isn't even out officially, 02UM is console-only and SSSEN was a dud. The three newest things in SNK's stable, and NONE are capable of being a part of the festivities, for various reasons.
It is interesting how even the likes of 98UM is not here, though. I didn't think the scene for that game was on THAT much of a decline, is it?

The Capcom roster continues to upset me for its general lack of appeal. I can't see it drawing in anyone who wasn't going to buy the game in the first place. When I think of Capcom today, I think Biohazard, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry and Basara. These are all hugely popular franchises and not one is included in the game.
On the other hand, I have to try pretty hard to find complaint with the Tatsunoko side. I have wishes, sure, but no legitimate complaints. I guess if I had to complain about something, I wish Ai would have at least shown up on one of Gan's supers. They didn't even put her in the endings...it's like she doesn't exist.
