I wonder who draw the animation, hum hum hum.

Yeah, probably nothing more to add until the TGS and the next two characters.

Are they really supposed to show us the new characters then? Or are you just saying "next two" for whenever?

I mean, sure...with time winding down, we should stand to know the full roster of around 20-24 some time soon. At least...if they're at all interested in trying to balance all of the arcade characters prior to release...

I believe they were mentioned last topic, or at least, I made a point about HakuDai last week, for the Famitsu reveal, which Iggy elaborated on.

And any way, I don't see what's wrong with the mini games. They're just going to do more to attract casual gamers and be nice lil extras, just like those "stupid mini games" that were in the likes of Pocket Fighter and the Rival Schools series. XD

On another note, the game is confirmed to be yet another game developed 8ing, with Capcom over-seeing. Guess one of those old guesses of mine from months ago panned out!

http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1218182_1407.html

Obviously, it looks like Capcom decided to have them on more "strict leash" than they did with the Fate games. Kinda like how Capcom had DIMPS on a strict leash when it came to SF4, I guess...

Testicles are sometimes referred to as kin-tama or "golden balls" in Japanese, so the punchline goes that
"gold" was bought with gold.

Actually, I wonder about that. Fate/unlimited codes (did I spell that right?) was developed by Eighting and cavia. Which studio was responsible for what in that game?

That would be Hakushan Daimaoh, as mentioned above.

Any way, I largely approve of these picks. Jun I was hoping for a while, and Roll being based off her Rockman Rockman version may mean she may be able to play up that "I wanna be like Strider" angle that they hinted at in MvC/2 (see her pre-fight intros that were basically cute versions of Hiryu's).

And I'd want to be like Hiryu, too!

Apparently Roll and Jun are console-only. I'd say bummer, but that's probably the only way I'll get to play this, so...

Yes sure!
Funny enough, now I'd rather be Ted / Reietsu Gou from Collège fou fou fou / High School Kimengumi:
"His family runs a sake store. He lives with his uncle's family. Despite being underage, he is occasionally drunk. He is a huge pro wrestling fan and can walk on water. He is a very hearty and violent fellow and does not always give Rei proper Leader treatment, but he is also kind hearted and does not allow others to make fun of his friends. It took him three tries to pass the high school entry exam." He's very hairy.

Kinda off topic, anyone watching the new Casshan anime? The concept's a bit funky but it sure looks pretty. I loooves me some anime revivals so I'll be checking this out .. even if only to see how it stacks up to the new Guyver show from a few years ago.

It is interesting, though the art style put me off a bit at first.

Though, I will give it credit for trying some new things with an old franchise. Plus, older and beloved characters start appearing by episode 2, and that made me happy...

Saki is sweet and I liked her design since MvC. I know her is from a quiz game from Capcom, but WHAT quizgame exactly?
Also, another Tatsunoko guy was spotted, but I do not care about Tatsunoko chars anymore.

I don't see what's the big deal.

The Wii "exclusives" aren't even that. They're only exclusive to the Wii version until they're time-released in the arcade version (which, from what I hear, is basically set for when the Wii version comes out soon after the Arcade release).

So in the end, arcade and Wii owners still get to play with all the characters that stand to be in this game. Arcade players just have to be slightly inconvenienced by the "wait" for the console port, for the arcade version to "catch up".

Hey, it beats having to do anything silly memory cards, in my opinion...

If I read it carefully (which I may have not, being ill and all) they are exclusive to the Wii version because they are "too powerful".
Oh, and while we're on the subject of balance, the answer to "why is Ryu so mindlessly overpowered" is "you'll see, soon you will discover even more broken characters and their infinites".

There's a mobile phone video of it somewhere, but it gave me a seizure so no.

The final boss (Capcom side ?) is Tokoyami no Sumeragi, Ôkami's last boss.

If you don't know Ôkami but know your fighting game history, imagine Wakuwaku 7's last boss (and for the last form, Smash Bros' master hand).

1st form : a big sphere that rolls around.
2nd form : strange appendages and robot feet appear. Power geyzers all over.
3rd form : back to the big sphere with a massive hand. Lot of attacks, flames, tornado, meteors, missiles, grab, etc.

The last boss has a metal armor of sort, nothing more. It's a evil entity with more forms.
And yeah, it's feudal Japan with extratterestrials and god beings.

But is it confirmed that TvC last boss is the same last boss from Ookami? Or is just some random godly thing with similar design?

All the endings have been animated for the Wii version.
The unlockables are the 4 characters, a 3rd color (if you rank a good score on the character's minigame?), new background(s?), arts, endings, music.
No playable boss, unfortunately.

Seeing how Capcom is now showing some love to Clover's masterpiece brings me bittersweet feelings... but at least I admit the graphic style of the game suits quite well an Ookami character. It does not feel out of place at all, so I guess I'm liking the idea.

Random funnies:

- Alex can power bomb Gold Lightan by grabbing Gold Lightan's foot. However, Alex cannot command grab the final boss.

- PTX and Gold Lightan have grabs that seem to be able to grab people who are airborne or grounded.

- Karas seems to have a limit with how many times he can juggle you with his j.A (seems to be 3) before he has to chain into something else or else whiff.

- Where Alex's stungun headbutt was overpowering in the betas, it now seems to be overnerfed... it's incredibly hard to land, you can easily hit him out of it, and after you've connected it most hits will cause your opponent to be knocked into the air backwards (even stuff like his flash chops). I'm not sure what the best way to get damage from it is other than just doing a Hyper Bomb.

Yes, and Gold Lightan has serious problems fighting the final boss. His supers and command throw don't work correctly, and it's next to impossible to avoid the final form's grab n' laser attack. At least he apparently teaches himself GOLD SHORYUKEN afterwards.

At least with Ivan, you can afford to actually to hang back and shoot at Yami. At lower difficulties, you might actually do well to do just that.

With Lighty though, it's a different story. He, QUITE literally, has NOTHING to help him in that fight. Falcon and I were basically going back and forth, and the best thing we could do was to spam jumping mid, because that was the only thing that Lighty had that didn't have too much lag on it, such that Lighty could block after he landed.

I really don't see why they couldn't allow Lighty and Ivan to at least be able to do an SNK-style dodge or something. Even something small like that (which could have been mapped to the Partner button that they never use), would have been something to help them out... XD

True, I was hoping they could use it at least as some sort of personal action...
In the grand scheme of things, I suppose it's better the two giants are the weakest characters: the game would have been even more broken if they had been too good. At least they exist as playable semi-boss, and fun sandbags when you play with your friends.

List of characters the producer would have liked to use but couldn't for various reasons, but please please buy this game so we can make a sequel and we'll try to make them appear:

Condor Joe, Yattaman 2go, JJ, Shurato, Soultaker, Komugichan, Daikyôjin, Berg Katse, Tekkaman Evil, Braiking boss

Leon, Tyrant, Nash, Hinata, Date Masamune, Arthur, Ibuki, Leilei, Vega, Zero Gôki, Nero, Princess Tiara, Jun, Rouge

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah. This is weak. Your game doesn't sell well, but, man... This is really, really weak. I hate you.
(In case you wondered, the game is really bombing horribly... What a waste).

At least, it shows who was considered and who wasn't. Too bad for Deyande... And it's funny how none of those characters appear in the endings.

Damn it! Not only does it suck that these characters didn't make it, but the fact that it isn't selling well doesn't bode well for the current fighting game boom we've got going. There's no telling how long Cap is going to be back in the fighting game arena, and low sells of this doesn't raise much hope of them being around long.

Hopefully, the surprisingly good sales of SSF2THDR and the hopefully good sales of SFIV will balance this out.

I'm telling you, the game would sell like hotcakes here in the States. People are STILL playing the hell out of MvC2 and are jonesing for a sequel, plus there are plenty of Wii owners here.

Actually I've heard that's been a terrible misconception. Granted the game isn't doing as well as say Dissidia, about 80% percent of it's initial shipment was sold in its first week, it's been taken in well at the arcades, and it was really cheap to produce (a sequel would be even cheaper since they could reuse the engine, voice clips, and models from the first game and simply add to it). So it's not a "hit" but it's hardly "bombing horribly" either (not like, say, No More Heroes in Japan).

On the other hand, the game is the last one of the boom, so maybe the public is a little fed up... But the hate for the game on 2ch is really surprising for me.

Really? That's good to hear.
I thought I had read something amongst the line of 70.000 projected sales, a number nearly impossible to reach when the game only sold 25.000 in 2 weeks or so...

AAAhhhh..They were right after all. The alignment of the planets is causing catastrophic consequences on humanity. 2012 people!! It’s been proven!! The fall of capitalism! Global Warming! Violence and war around the world! The gap between the rich and poor is getting narrower every passing day! %90 of American games are WWII FPSs AND Japanese gamers don’t buy good obscure games anymore! Behold the change people!!

It's hard to know... But the BlazBlue fans are really hateful around the board. SF4 gets a lot of flame too.
The general opinion is also that the game target is too wide, old men in their early 40s who might like Tatsunoko can't play long aerial rave combo oriented games, and the Capcom side may talk more to another demographics, the early 30-something, except Sôki who isn't popular at all.
All in all, it's not that the game is widely hated : it's not Basara X or KOF 2003. It's just that the fans aren't vocal enough to let enough space between 2 stupid "the game is crap", "the game plays like crap" and "the game looks like crap" troll posts. Same thing on Nico²: there aren't enough fans of the game to post even remotely good fighting videos.

The final hope of the game is the Tôgeki. More people might buy it next month to train a little, and if we see entertaining matches and not just endless Ryû/Karasu duels, maybe the game will light up?
But then, the game might already be in the bargain sales bin...

Speaking of the Tôgeki: I think it's the first time no SNKP game is selected at ALL. Have I missed something? I'm worried.

Well, the funny thing is, I think the majority of good vids just end up YouTube, courtesy of the likes of tianyuan and etc.

As can be gauged from his vids, what can definitely be concluded thus far is that the old "Hokuto no Ken" crowd has taken to this game like a duck. Even the ones who "retired" from HnK, like this game, and they'll probably be the ones seen playing the game at Tougeki.

As you said, it'll largely depend on how high level play looks. If it garners interest from Tougeki, then that might be all the difference in this game getting some longevity (and then, a sequel after that, maybe).

I think it was a matter of bad timing and probably poor planning, on SNK's part.

As it stands right now, KOF XII isn't even out officially, 02UM is console-only and SSSEN was a dud. The three newest things in SNK's stable, and NONE are capable of being a part of the festivities, for various reasons.

It is interesting how even the likes of 98UM is not here, though. I didn't think the scene for that game was on THAT much of a decline, is it?

Angry elitists who believe that all other games are inferior and are angry at the GG fans for not immediately adopting that game?

The Capcom roster continues to upset me for its general lack of appeal. I can't see it drawing in anyone who wasn't going to buy the game in the first place. When I think of Capcom today, I think Biohazard, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry and Basara. These are all hugely popular franchises and not one is included in the game.

On the other hand, I have to try pretty hard to find complaint with the Tatsunoko side. I have wishes, sure, but no legitimate complaints. I guess if I had to complain about something, I wish Ai would have at least shown up on one of Gan's supers. They didn't even put her in the endings...it's like she doesn't exist.

They would have used them... if the producers of these series had allowed their characters to appear in the game (that's why the list seem honest to me, with Nero and the 2 BH characters).

Inafune was the only one to be OK with it, that's why we have Rockman, Sôki and Iwan. I suppose they could have added a Dead Rising character, but I'm not sure it would have blend well with Tatsunoko.

The fact most of Capcom was against this game make it seem even more lovable to me.

After doing some research, I've discovered that my Wii is updated to the point where the Freeloader cannot be used, so I can't play this game on my Wii, as far as I know (at least without using the Twilight hack or whatever and the homebrew channel or something and I don't think I'd really know what I was doing to do all that just to play TvC).

Anyway, does anyone know of any other possible solution for me to be able to play this without having a Japanese system? Does anyone know if there will possibly be a new freeloader to bypass the current Wii update and let me play this? I really want to get an opportunity to play this game.

Well, aside from the Twilight Hack/Homebrew Channel combo, a mod chip? Note that the latest Twilight Hack circumvents System Update 3.4, so I'd think you're much better off with that option than the mod chip route.

Ok, I guess I need to do some reading up on the Twilight Hack then. Thanks.
