Wheeee! I like the new girl in 13! It still doesn't appeal to me so much stylistically, but I have a much more favorable impression now. At the very least, it'll be like Advent Children- wildly fun to look at even if it's utter garbage.

Man, my issues with Nomura's design style aside, wow, is that movie team of theirs is something. I don't like that the design of the hair of the guy from Versus is just lazy jpop, for instance, but...it looks so cool! ARGH, I said it! Never tell this to anyone!

Man I'm starting to wonder if they are ever planning to make the actual game portion of FF13 or if they're just going to make a surprise announcement that it's a movie and not a game.

I don't blame you dude, I was thinking the exact same thing. What gets me more is the setting for Versus. I don't know if appeal is the correct word for the environment just to me looks really nice from the buildings and such.

FFXIII: for boys, and FFXIII Versus: for girls. Of all the licences, they had to copy Bokujo Monogatari.

If the game doesn't come out until early 2010, there's still plenty of time for that.

We definetely have some good material here.

I think that the characters revealed work and are interesting. Despite the fact of Versus13's "A-Team" and their emo/jpop hairstyles and FF13's Seifer look-alike are kinda generic at first, certain aspects impressed me like the urban setting in Versus13, the mage girl among buildings at night and the red-haired girl in 13.

I'm looking forward to see more footage on Lightning and whatever-is-called the Versus MC. I'm excited about this game again :)

But I still want to quench your thirst.

No, she's not. They seem to be saying her role in the game's story may remind FF6 fans of Celes' role.

After all the intricate detail and non-threatening boys I was surprised the final scan was of "Angel Heart"-era Robert De Niro. I can only hope that the character has a name as ridiculous as Louis Cyphre.

Haha so the general consensus is "I wanted to hate it, but I can't". I love it!

I'm actually excited about Final Fantasy again! The setting for versus looks really intruiging. It has a very cool mood to it already. You can feel the sense of comradery between all the characters, and it's somehow even cooler knowing that the raven haired guy is the king and that's his posse of young handsome mafia dudes.

I think Nomura gets a harder time than he deserves cos he's always going to be compared unfavorably to Amano, but really there are far worse people working on games that get just as much praise if not more.

Sure the black haired dude looks a bit "emo" (I hate that word so much!) and generic, but some of his friends are very very distinct looking. For instance, one of them looks arabic, and has a face unlike anyone else I've ever seen in a videogame.

Also, the summon redesigns look mind blowing. I love that Ifrit has a human face again (bringing it closer to Amano), and the Shiva Bikes are awesome, and I love Carbuncle's marsupial face, with its Chinese Opera Fool pattern.

There's still all sorts of room for the games to get screwed up, but for now I'm optimistic. It's so tiring hating every new game that comes out, so it's a great relief to feel positive about these new entries in a once beloved franchise.

I hope there's a demo soon.

Also Polyanna, you should really play Crisis Core. It's not shit like Advent Children (and even I thought it wasn't that good), instead it's a really fun battle system combined with some advent children like cutscenes, and an interesting perspective on FF7's back story.
