So tonight is preview night at SDCC and the new Marvel Legends under hasbro have been shown. If you haven't heard their first wave will be a build-a-figure of Annihilus with Emma Frost, X3 Beast, Banshee, Ultimate Iron Man, Planet Hulk, and Hercules.

On a slightly related note. I've heard that the build-a-figure for DC Superheroes have been scrapped. Has anyone else heard about this? Are they going back to bases?

SOTA is going to reveal the round 6 lineup for Street Fighter and show off most of the sculpts for Round 5.

I wish I could be there.
Luckily, Baghead will get me a calm Gouken and R.P.D. Uniform Leon.
Speaking of Marvel Legends, I've seen the prototypes, and I'm not impressed, I hope they at least fix Ultimate Iron Man, since I missed the Marvel Select version and I like the armor design.
Annihilus looks very cool however, and I'm not interested in the rest of the characters, except maybe for Movie Ghost Rider.

By the way, any news on the SOTA Darkstalkers line? is it cancelled or something?

No, just EXTREMELY delayed. SOTA will sell them on their website early next year.

Which brings up another point that SOTA stated at the action-figure.com message boards. Apparently they will be dropping the traditional release by round method. They didn't get really specific, but people are speculating that SOTA will release a couple of characters ever few months.

Shots of news stuff from SOTA are up at action-figure.com. Good luck getting in. Currently on display is a resin statue of Ryu fiddling with some plastic stuff that may or may not be a fireball and prototypes of Dee Jay and Zangief. The Z-Man is looking good although his chest hair needs a bit of work.

Dee Jay

Zangief

For the most part they are pretty good. Dee Jay is missing the "M" in his hair and his necklace.

I would like Zangief with a wider head and thicker beard though.

Quick Photoshop

Apparently this is the second wave of Hasbro Marvel Legends

source: http://www.superherohype.com/news/spider-mannews.php?id=4524

Marvel Legends:
- Astonishing X-Men Cyclops
- Danger Room
- She-Hulk
- Ultimate Wolverine
- Thor
- X3 Dark Phoenix
- Storm (comic book version)
- Magneto as Zorn
- Blob-Build-A-Figure
- Quicksilver
- Yellowjacket

Supposedly Thor is a repaint of the Giant Man wave.

X3 Dark Phoenix and Ult. Wolverine are dull choices to me. Xorn Magneto would have been an interesting figure if they didn't mess up Xorn by turing him into Magneto. Yellowjacket has Civil War to help him out. Quicksilver and Blob are long overdue. Now we need Astonishing Beast to finish off the Astonishing X-men. They better not throw him in a boxset as an exclusive.

Not bad, Blob seems a little overdone in my eyes, but not bad. While Hasbro is in the habit of rereleasing those Spider-Man Classics toys, they should just rerelease Toad so that we can have a complete original brotherhood of mutants. Nice to see Thor isn't a repaint and Ultimate Wolverine isn't too bad. I might just use him for custom fodder since I don't feel like starting a collection of Ultimate X-Men.

It seems with all these X-Men characters, it would have been better for them to extend the X-Men classics line or something. I am not sure if you saw, but X3 Juggernaut is in that one line-up of superposeable 12 inch figures. I think the line is called Marvel Icons or something.

Mezco's Family Guy line seems to be really grasping at straws and they are only on the seventh wave, but I guess if people still buy them they'll make them.

Are you interested in Toad? I think I saw him somewhere the other day, the blister was in pretty bad shape though, but if you're looking for it, I can buy it for you.
As for the Spidey rehashes, I'm disappointed they didn't use one of the superposeable bodies, I hope these are mock ups, because I really want a Spidey 2099, Scarlet Spider and a good black costume Spider-Man.
And yeah, that Juggy is for the Icons line. They look good, but I prefer my toys to be in the 6" scale.

I got'em for you the very first day... Gouken's box was made of crap plastic so it's a little crunched by otherwise fine.

e-mail me your shipping info so I can figure out how much it's gonna cost me to mail them to you.

I'm just gonna double post... those have been scrapped. They couldn't get the mechanics to work so Mongul (the first planned BAF) is gonna be a basic figure. No plastic bases, but they will come with cardboard displayes.

"Dr.Baghead's boring vacation photos!" , posted Thu 27 Jul 09:02post reply

Who wants to see my pictures from SDCC?!?! Well, tough luck, I'm bored to I'm posting them anyway:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/Dr.Baghead/ComicCon7.jpg Giant Sagat statue everyone knows and loves

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/Dr.Baghead/ComicCon3.jpg Dr.Baghead gets his photo taken next to Dita Von Teese (Burlesque star and wife of Marylin Manson) she's very small in person.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/Dr.Baghead/ComicCon6.jpg and Baghead gets his photo with the hillarious Brian Posehn (who wrote a comic that a teacher who hated me penciled) I didn't get to see him until the last day, he was very very tired but was still nice enough to wait around while I tried to set up my camera.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/Dr.Baghead/ComicCon2.jpg Some old guy everyone else was taking pictures of and I just wanted to fit in. (Ray Harryhausen!!)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/Dr.Baghead/ComicCon1.jpg

And here's my girlfriend, Kipestshin (if I'm gonna refer to myself as "Baghead" I might as well use her on-line name too) at the Amano signing on Sunday. We didn't get picked for Dark Horse's raffle but a nice older gent sold us his spare ticket for $20. Amano seems like a super nice guy, he was signing STACKS of books for people with quick sketch portraits.

I lost a whole day waiting around for portfolio reviews. I only got 2 in, one with Disney Publishing which went well enough I guess (no call back yet -__-) and one with Darkhorse, who pretty much told everyone "you're unprofessional, go to hell" as I saw people with comics MUCH better then mine turned away. (self promotion: if you want to see what I showed the pros: http://drbaghead.deviantart.com

...and why didn't anyone tell me they made Azumanga Gashapons?! I bought two of the 7th Kingdom Minotaurs and both Goukens at the con, but the Tomo gashapon I found by accident was still the most awesomest thing I found there.
