"Toys (ML Onslaught picture)" , posted Sun 5 Feb 11:12post reply

So ToyFair UK had been going on for a bit, where they showed off Young Avengers and Marvel Monsters boxsets, and the US toyfair will be starting in a little over a week.

Here are some images from Toybiz

http://www.action-figure.com/events/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=8585

and pics from everyone else

http://www.action-figure.com/events/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=8583

I am looking forward to the Young Avengers and I will get the monsters because they look cool.

However, the biggest news, well atleast to me, is the showing of ML Onslaught in the 13th wave.

I got this pic from the spawn boards

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/GekiV/onsy.jpg

I love it, however I thought he had regular legs in his second phase.

Also, in the 14th wave will be a build-a-figure Mojo, who looks nice from the low quality scans I've seen.

Hopefully we can also get a phase 1 Onslaught figure sometime in the future, but this will definitely tide me over. Maybe in Marvel Select.

I also picked up the DC Superheroes Batman and Scarecrow a bit ago. Although they are a couple of bucks more than Marvel Legneds, they lack the accessories and extras to justify the price.

Other than a comic, Batman came with a couple of gadgets and Scarecrow came with a Sickle and skull. Atleast Toybiz put in bases and then later, the build-a-figures. I am really hoping this line picks up in terms of extras.

Where did you buy them at?! DO NOT buy them at Target, go to TRU, Wal-Mart or K-Mart.

Target charges $10 for the DCSH and $8 for ML. But TRU/K-Mart sell both for $9. Wal-Mart sell ML for a little less then $8 and DCSH for a little less then $9. So if you shop smart they're only a little bit pricier then ML

Although there will never be bases with the figures, Mattel IS planning a mail-away offer to get them out if people want them. But since ML is created basically by Marvel so it has a lot more room to play and keep cost down while.

The DC Superheroes line should still be worth the $9 though once it gets rolling check out the future releases, and you're gonna wish you didn't buy that Batman:
http://www.sgcollect.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49300

I honestly think the line looks better then Marvel Legends, but it's not as articulated. So depending on where your loyality lies (over sculpted?! or over articulated?!) will change your view of the line.

I can't wait until they get the master licenese (if DC is willing to give it them, they might see the line as threat to DC Direct and limit them to just Batmans and Supermans 'families') I really want Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle in this style... OH! and modern age Catwoman

I got Batman at Target and Scarecrow at Walmart.

Although that link is down at the moment, after some searching I've found what you were talking about and the Batman is much better than series 1, but I hope that they go with a different paint scheme with the final release since those are the same colors as the first series. Perhaps darken the blue a bit. I have also been looking forward to that Darkseid figure for a while.

I really don't mind the lack of articulation . However, I would like a Batman figure with some ball jointed hips to get him in some really dynamic poses. Someone like Superman doesn't really need ball jointed hips.

Without some articulation this just seems like a mass market DC Direct line. There is nothing wrong with that, but my favorite thing about stuff like Marvel Legends with multiple POA is that you can have the characters interact in many different ways.

For example, my X-men are in a different battle pose against the villains every month because they can be posed into almost any position I please. While with unarticulated figures you kind of just have them standing there looking at you where your choices are either arms up or arms down. Unless they are preposed in some cool position like the Hush Superman figure.

I like the idea of the mail away bases. Hopefully those won't be too much to get.

I am looking forward to these figures. I don't really need another Thor nor a full size Antman, but I like the Giant Man so I can deal with it.

Here are some pics of the ML 2 Packs that will be coming out

I would have liked a green jumpsuit Skull, but since they are doing a modern Cap I can live with a modern Red Skull.

Apparently both figures in the two pack will have a variant. I have heard that the Leader will have the tall head and Kingpin will have a black suit.

And some better pics of ML 13.

Crap, I need all of those. I didn't know Havok was in the Wal-Mart exclusive set. I have enough trouble finding Marvel Legends at Wal-Mart as it is. Any idea when these will be released?

Meh... I'm not really impressed by this line. Normally when I see an ML I either think "WOW! that's fun I'll get that one!" or "OH! Good fodder there!" this one is extremely bland. I guess I'll trade for Onslaught pieces.

"DC Superhero bases" , posted Sun 12 Feb 11:19post reply

A Mattel rep has released info on the up coming Mail-away bases:

"The base promotion will be for the fall figures either starting in wave 3 or 4. Still TBD. The promo will be- buy all 4 figures in a wave, and mail in the UPC's for four free bases. We will do one for the fall SM wave and one for a fall BM wave. Don't worry about your wave 1 or 2 barcodes. The comic books are the promotion for those waves."

Which is nice and all, but considering the only base I REALLY liked was Superman's Daily Planet stand I don't think I'll be taking part (unless that's Battle Damage Superman's base as well, and if it is, congradulations Mattel, you conned me into buying a Battle Damage Superman!)... I wonder if they'll show us the bases on the card backs or something or it's a blind thing.

You can order it online at certain shops. I don't know all of them , but wizarduniverese.com has it for $150, I know there are others, but I can't remember them.

So on to Toy fair news.

Figures.com had a lot of good stuff up if you want to head over there.

http://photos.figures.com/photo/1/showgallery.php?cat=3398 here is there photo gallery

There's a bunch of Marvel Legend figure coming out this year.
ML 13(Onslaught) ML 14(Mojo) ML 15 (MODOK), ML Giantman Series, two-packs and gift packs galore. Spider-Man classics is getting a bunch on villains like Shocker, Toxin, Hydroman, etc.

Jakks showed off their Rocky line and it is a little more pathetic than I thought it was going to be. The clothing looks horrible especially on red robe Rocky. I will just pick up Clubber and Ivan Drago from this line and thats it.

The biggest surprise to me was a 1:6 MGS4 Snake figure.

http://www.figures.com/databases/action.cgi?setup_file=fignews2.setup&category=actionfigures&topic=78&show_article=435

It looks okay. I will wait until I see the final product until I decide if I want it or not.

Jazwares showed off somemore of their Megaman figures and it looks like they are putting out a Servebot, which I will probably pick up.

Damn, this is like Christmas for Marvel collectors!
Too bad I won't be able to get like 90% of what I want...
And it's too bad Medicom is releasing a MGS4 figure, I mean, it's nice and all, but those pricetags are borderly insane, and then there's the limited supply crap, damn!

By the way, is there a way to arrange something with you guys? I need the Galactus and Sentinel Waves, and of course I will need the ONSY, Mojo and Giantman waves, as well as House of M boxets and some of those X-Men and Spidey Classics. Do any of you have Paypal? I'm willing to deposit two or three hundred dollars for these, I will throw an extra for effort and I will cover S/H of course.
Anyone?

I can probably help you on some of the newer stuff, but I'm not sure if I can find the Galactus and Sential series anymore (I'll check tomorrow to see if the slower stores still have any)

No hurry on getting me the Money. All of the Galactus/Sential series are sold out round here (I can get you most of ML9 expect War Machine, Nightcrawler, and Deathlok. But I but no Sential Series left around here) so it's gonna be a few months until anything you want will be out around here. (unless you want any ML11 or ML12s)

Send me a list of characters you'd like (or just what series you need all of) to my email:
HittoshimaShougo (at) hotmail .com

and I'll be sure to gather them up as I see them. And don't worry about sending the money all at once, you can pay as I obtain them if that's easier.

Category 1

Honda vs. Hugo vs. Alex vs. Yun/Yang

Category 2

Cody vs. Charlie vs. Dan vs. Sean

Category 3

Mika vs. Elena vs. Maki vs. Alpha Chun-li

Category 4

Thin Bison vs. Urien/Gill vs. Geki vs. Oro

I voted for Hugo, Charlie, Maki and Urien/Gill. It would be cool to see Yun/Yang and Urien/Gill win as that would put 7 characters in a series. It was interesting to see Geki in the line up. I wonder if SF1 characters have a real future in this line.

Thanks for posting the new voting choices. I've been keeping an eye on this. These choices look real tough though.

Category 1
Honda vs. Hugo vs. Alex vs. Yun/Yang

What an odd category. Three grapplers and a pair of quick characters. I'm not attached to Honda, although I like him. Hugo is super cool, but Alex barely edges him out. The twins are cool too, but Alex edges them out. Alex wins!

Category 2
Cody vs. Charlie vs. Dan vs. Sean

Again, super tough. Sean is all right but Dan is cooler. Super tough catgory. I vote for Cody though. I don't know why.

Category 3
Mika vs. Elena vs. Maki vs. Alpha Chun-li

Super tough except Alpha Chun. Let's get her towards the end of the line. I'll go for Maki here. I guess I want to complete the Final Fight crew ASAP.

Category 4
Thin Bison vs. Urien/Gill vs. Geki vs. Oro

I'm not sure about Thin Bison. Maybe at the end of the line. I'm glad they are including Geki. I don't know why Udon ignores the SF1 only characters. I'm glad SOTA isn't-- although I think its only to squeeze more figures out of the license. Anyway, I vote for Oro, just cause I feel a little odd having an almost naked action figure of a guy on my desk. OF course I want them all. I'll settle for an old, sickly yellow man in a diaper.

SOTA better hurry up and release series 4 nnow and show pictures of Series 5.

I voted:
-Honda (cuz he's gonna win and then all the little whinnier-babies who want only the original 12 will be happy)
-Dan (because I'd like an offical version to replace "Alan Cummings in a purple Ryu suit" I've got in my sig)
-Maki (cuz I don't like R.Mika, I'm in different to Elena, and can wait for a new Chun-Li)
-Geki (cuz ninjas are cool)

Catagory 1: A lot of good choices here but my vote is going to go with Hugo. A large, lumpy man in a pink undershirt and chains? That figure is going to look awesome.

Catagory 2: Dan all the way.

Catagory 3: I would like to see Elena since posing her up in neat kick poses would be a lot of fun. Trouble is, Maki would be great as well. I'll have to do a coin flip on this one and then regret my decision.

Catagory 4: First Geki shows up in the Udon SF comic and now he might be a figure? That's quite a bit of press for a character that's only been in one game as a non-playable opponent. I'm tempted to vote for Gill just to see how tacky his figure would look but I'm going to have to go with the obscure but oddly popular ninja.
