That definitely looks like

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
pyramid head

End of Spoiler

in the flash intro.

Also, the first tune that plays in the intro sounds like its from SH3 (or maybe 2?) I guess Yamaoka's involved with the soundtrack then. Huh.

Man, if the movie is anything at all like the site and its intro, then I think I might not be disappointed. Because they totally nailed the feel so far...

As far as I'm concerned, there is hope!

Indeed. This is the only videogame movie I've really been interested in so far...

And, lol, it seems it'll be a blonde fest too: We've got the Cybil-lookalike from SH1, the-little-brat-whose-name-I-don't-remember-lookalike from SH2 and Heather-lookalike from SH3.
Waai!}\( ^o^)/

EDIT: Oh, and, off-topic but after seeing the official site there, I must say I have hopes on Casino Royale too, after the really disappointing (to me) DAD.

Deidara. I just loved that face. XD

Well, I knew they were SAYING how seriously they were taking the project, and their writing method seemed to back it up... but unless you've never heard PR people talk about movies before or seen any game movies period, then there's always reason to doubt them.

I was happy to hear that they were playing the games a lot during the writing process, though... that's what gave me some hope that the movie will be good (and so far, the movie appears to be on the right track).

Yep, he's involved which bodes well for this movie. This certainly looks like it captures the feel of the games and includes actors that look like the characters they are supposed to be.

I'm pretty sure they are replacing Harry with a woman named Rose which is kind of odd, but if it works it works. I'm pretty optimistic about this one.

I was never really sure about where they were taking the story... at one point, I thought it would be based on SH3, but some of the things I had heard about the story made it sound like they had gone with the format for the games (new game = new characters and storyline), but either way, I'll be fine with alterations to the story of a particular game as long as they get the FEEL of the movie to work.

EDIT: Oh yeah, in Charles' post, looks like we've got

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
Lisa Garland

End of Spoiler

in the picture there... so it's an easy guess who's under that tent on the right.

The way I've heard is that it's going to be based on Silent Hill 1 with some of the popular elements of 2 jammed in (like Pyramid Head and such) which sounds like a pretty good mix. Personally I felt like 1 had a stronger plot which was more related to the actual town and two had some more refined psychological effects.

I had a poster idea, but I saw this- "The Silent Hill Poster Contest ('Contest') is only open to legal residents of the 50 states of the U.S. and D.C. ...who are not professional artists or graphic designers..." I assume degrees in those areas count against you.

probably for legal issues, like if they make a bundle of money and you are a professional artist you could probably sue them for some more money but thanks to this disclaimer you would be agreeing otherwise...

lol, I guess we can't do that one scene where Harry and Dahlia duke it out with RPGs in the church.

quote:

I'm pretty sure they are replacing Harry with a woman named Rose which is kind of odd, but if it works it works. I'm pretty optimistic about this one.

There was an interview in a french magazine with one of the writers for the movie, he explained why they decided to use a female for the main character role, instead of Harry.

quote:

Why women as main characters?

It’s true that there are practically only women. Difficult to say why. When you will see the movie, you will understand what I mean. By thinking of all the elements in the game, we realized (Roger Avary, Nicolas Boukhrief and me) that we had to deal with an entire feminine world. We decided to create a feminine dimension for Silent Hill. I cannot say more without spoiling the game, but I feel that a way to focus on Silent Hill is feminine. If you study the game, you find out that the hero, even though he’s a man, acts in a way usually associated to women. They have affection for their children, they are sensitive and they cry. Remove the masculine appearance and you have a feminine sensitivity. The movie turns around to what is a mother to her daughter. I really felt that while playing the four games. I took the decision to insist on that point while adapting Silent Hill. We will see what fans think of it.

Oh, thx altimus.

Male chauvinist stereotypes? check.
-First -1 point. Damn-

So, is it an adaptation of the first game, specifically (with pyramid-head and so on-whatsoever)? I thought it'd be more of a mixture.
Cool for me, tho', cuz 1 is the only that I've played at full (I want to play SH3, dammit! )
