So I finally got my series 3 figures today and I am impressed. It seems to me that the detail and quality to this wave has improved from previous waves. Not that previous waves were bad. Maybe I'm just really happy with the sculpts on this wave. My only complaint is Sakura's extra goofy/anime face sculpt. It contrasts too much with everyone else's realistic faces.
What do you guys think about this wave? Shame that this wave got delayed so much or else we'd have wave 4 by now. Any images for wave 5 yet? Any voting or possible choices for wave 6? Is Sota still going to do Darkstalkers figures?
Is anyone actually interested in the Wave 3 variants? I think Wave 1 and 2 had good variants because they used common Player 2 colors. Ken's white, purple and yellow gi's are fairly common in SF. Blue and Yellow Blanka is memorable for some reason. I suppose the only popular variants for Wave 3 will be Sakura and possibly Guile.
I know I'll definitely try and get every single Remy variant for Wave 4. And there will be no end to the Akuma variants either.

I got R3 a while ago and find them quite enjoyable. Sakura’s head kind of bothers me too, but not too much. I can’t wait until the SOTA website gets the Dark Sakura figures in.
It does kind of suck when you think that we could have gotten R4 by now if there weren't so many delays. I wish there was only 4 months max between waves, but it seems 5 and 1/2 is going to be the norm.

In other news there will be a couple of Sagat and Ryu 2 packs coming out.
The first is the "Scarring blow" pack for Toyfare.
It is a nice concept and I will probably pick this one up and paint them in their SF1 colors, but I hope there is a bit more blood in the final version.

I didn't know about those two packs. Unfortunately, neither of them excites me. The Toy Fair one doesn't interest me because I don't like blood paint apps on my figures (I get uneasy around blood) and the hadou energy on Ryu's hand doesn't look that great-- besides I already have that hadou hand from the SDCC exclusive two years ago.
I personally would like a scar-free Sagat. Or maybe SFA Ryu. They could remold Ryu's sculpt so that he'd look younger. Use a new, younger head sculpt. Remove some of the muscle definition on his body. Give him a white headband. SF1 Sagat would be scar-free and younger looking.
I would also buy an "Accessory Pack" if Sota ever put one out. You could have a hadouken fireball. A tiger shot. Maybe an "electric tarp" to cover Blanka in order to imitate his electricity special. A different hadouken for Sakura. I don't know if a flash kick accessory would be good though.
Regardless, I'm happy. I wonder what differences Dark Sakura will have. If its just tanned skin, red eyes and a darker sailor fuku suit-- I'm not sure if I'll be that interested. Dark Sakura only appeared in one game and didn't really do much.
I hope we get a Gouken figure though. One that is based on the SFA and SF comic design. Get the remainder of the SF1 cast plus Maki wouldn't be bad either.

yeah, they're supposed to be out between SF round 4 and 5 (so IN THEORY that's Aprilish)

I wish there was a less of a lag too, but hey, I got to used DC Direct delaying every for months and months and there products aren't anywhere near as nice as the SF figures, so I'll cut SOTA the same break.
At least they tell us at least a week if not a month ahead of time their will be delays, DC Direct waits until the Monday before shipping to do so

Supposedly that's at the end of the month, same with FINALLY seeing Demitri... but we'll have to wait and see.

I sorta like the scarring blow 2-pack (even if it is inaccurate) and I like they're re-releasing the original paint ops as well...
I won't be getting either one since I have both original figures but they're still kinda neat... and better then giving Wizard a real exclusive like 2 brand new characters.
Blanka and Dan make for a most excellent tag image (yeah still not funny)

You can get the entire Series 3 set for $32.39. Thats about $6 per figure. Darn good price. Plus huge mark downs on the rest of the variant color figures in case your looking for those.

BTW, has anyone heard of any more news on future SF figures from SOTA? According to SOTA, series 4 should be released this February. Hopefully its true...
