I suppose you could call it.... Earthbound 2?
Itoi's site confirms that Mother 3 is nearing release... but won't say anymore than that the release is about a season away. Seeing as how he's the principal man behind the Mother games, I'd say that this is coming on good authority.
Nothing is mentioned about release outside of Japan.
I will now confess that as charming as Earthbound seemed, I couldn't bring myself to actually play through the whole game.

Yeah I've been following it's development from what little was being released. Very little chance of an English release though... the Mother collection for GBA was completely ignored by NOA.

Yeah, I was disappointed the Mother collection didn't get released stateside. Earthbound is one of my favorite console RPGs.
