Reviewers haven't seen it yet. So unless you want links to what people at Evo said about it at SRK there's no such thing at this time. Wait until it's closer to coming out (October 25) or a bit after for reviews and stuff.
OH MY FUCKING GOD! Well Sano, I bet this is what there's thinking right now..."Oops, we fucked it again!" First Devil May Cry, now this; but this is infinitely worse, because this is anime, and we all know it's always bad when someone fucks anime. And I even was interested to see this shit, but it's clear that I'll wait a little longer for some new cool anime, besides of course what I already got. In closing, one question...why these dicks didn't learn the lesson with Devil May Cry(ditching the original development team for the sequel, and that so nearly killed not just a game, but a franchise), but now they have in their hands what may be the greatest anime disaster in history?
There is a difference between doing it FIRST and doing it RIGHT.

Errr... when they ditched the Onimusha 1 cast for Onimusha 2 that worked out fine but Capcom themselves(Capcom doesn't make Anime themselves, just games) are not making this Anime, Manga video is and last time they ditched the cast of the SF2 Animated Movie and SF2V for the SFZ cast it worked out fine so they were going along with that scenario most likely, or the people involved in the first one went on to work on something else. It's sort of the problem when you deal with big names.
Ryu and Chun-Li forever!

What's a Street Fighter anime supposed to do?
I guess people is waiting for an anime that follows the SF storyline 100% (even though not even Capcom can do that anymore), that's why they always will end up disappointed. I love the SF II anime movie, but it has many flaws.
-The characters were way too muscley, big bodies with tiny heads. I think only Chun Li was proportionated.
-The plot was way too simple (this is not the fault of the writers, but from the game itself). Some aspects of the plot were never expanded, like the roles of the Shadaloo lords inside the organization, props to them for showing Balrog running a casino though; this showed how Shadaloo not only relied on drug trafficking to sustain itself, but also relied on legit business.
Besides that, the animation and fighting scenes were kickass. I say the more Street Fighter products, the better.

What's a Street Fighter anime supposed to do?
I actually think this anime may answer that question. I really don't know that much about this anime except what I've seen in the trailer but...
It has three generations of martial artists that practice the 'hadou' martial art. Its called street fighter alpha generations. Perhaps its going to be about how the 'hadou' martial art is being practiced across a group of individuals, across ages and time periods? It will explore their ideas, philosophies about "Hadou" and how "Hadou" has affected them? I think thats a damn good premise to write a story.
If you really want to take a message from Street Fighter, all you have to do is look at how practicing martial arts has affected each of the main characters.
Its consumed Gouki, making him amoral, selfish and removed from humanity. In a way Ryu is almost to that point because even he doesn't want to take up an apprentice and is utterly consumed with the perfection of his skills and the meaning of fighting-- both ultimately selfish concerns. Its a distraction for Ken from his life as a family man. Its also a distraction for Sakura.
This anime could be very interesting or it could simply de-evolve into the simple and expected but fun plot dynamics we get in our usual SF Alpha Endings. Example:
"You killed my master!" "Will you be my apprentice?" "C'mon Ryu, we'll train some more and then we'll really have our best fight yet."
We'll see what this movie does in less then two months. Release date: 10.25.05

Wow... I never payed Street Fighter enough attention to even realize that. I'd also like to know whether Capcom ever did the same...

I'd dare to say that your "example" is the only way an Street Fighter anime can follow, so I'm not really expecting anything better...
BTW, I never thought an animeish Ryu could suck so hard (and not to mention Sakura), but I find the designs appropiate in some way : they are supposed to be tough martial artists, so it's kinda logical to have those disfigured faces of theirs, and about Sakura... well, I can't imagine a girl capable of training with Ryu without being a damned she-man...

quote: This calls for some deep thought. What does "Hadou" mean to me?
"vibration", or something like that. Which means everything that has been written before makes no sense.
Well, I remember it translating directly to "wave motion", but that's not what I meant.
I was thinking along the lines of "What does freedom mean to me?", which is something you might be assigned as a fourth grade essay topic.
'Hadou' means different things to different people. To some, it means real ultimate power. To others, it is a natural energy source. But to me, it means the pursuit and embodiment of my fighting spirit, as well as my repressed sexual energy that comes from my celibate life of wandering the earth looking for worthy challengers. Real 'hadou' comes from the heart first, and the fist second. It also may come from the diaphram, but that could just be my spleen.
Yes, perhaps 'hadou' comes from the spleen...
Plus it's a line from the Simpsons, one of the few good lines in the recent (last several years I mean).
