Final Fantasy XI Official Site Opens- Beta Testing Registration Begins
[ Final Fantasy XI -Official Site ]
Square has opened the official site to their upcoming online game for the Playstation2, Final Fantasy XI. In addition to a short explanation of the Final Fantasy XI world "Vana Deil", the site also presents an FAQ of the game, wallpapers, and a live-camera of the Final Fantasy XI world (currently unavailable).

Beta testing for Final Fantasy XI is also opened for registry in the Official Site. Beta testing is scheduled to begin in December.

Short Comment- The crystal seems to have a major theme in FFXI, as the player character is refered to as "the warrior of the crystal" in the intro. The intro also mentions of the legend of Vana Deil- that "one stone" sealed off darkness in the world with its seven lights, created life and gods, but the seals of evil were broken after the gods layed to rest. It's not hard to assume that the "one stone" refers to the crystal as well. -H.Moriarty

Konami to Expend in Confectionary Industry with Anime & Game Themed Sweets
[ Konami | IR Release ]
Konami has announced its plans to expand in the confectionary market with Anime and Game related sweets. Already entered into the confectionary market since October, Konami claims to be have a powerful lineup scheduled for the future, their target ranging from from children to adults.

Konami's debut product was the "Choujin Super Densetsu" (SuperHeroes Legends) series, a pack of powdery solid candy with a toy figure freebee. The toy figures featured characters from Power Rangers styled TV shows of the 1960-70s in Japan. The product was aimed for the 30-40 year old audience.

Now following their first release, two
new series aimed for audiences in a similar range of age have been announced. The first is based on Leiji Matsumoto's productions "Maetel Legend" and "Queen Emeraldas", featuring famous characters also known to be in "Galaxy Express 999", such as the train conductor and Maetel. The second is based on Gerry Anderson's "Thunderbirds" from the 1960s, and will also include characters from Anderson's other works such as "Red Scarlet". Likewise to Konami's first product, the two series will be candies with toy figure freebees.

Konami also plans to create confectionary series for video games as well. Konami's first attempt will be for "Tokimeki Memorial 3", a date simulator game scheduled for release in December. Similarly to the other series schedued for release beforehand, Tokimeki Memorial 3's characters will be released as toy figure freebees of the candies as well. Konami hopes that the game themed confectionaries will answer to the "need of a collection" for the fans, as well as a form of advertizement of the game, aimed towards grocery shoppers.

Short Comment- As any reader should figure out, it's the toy inside that's the main thing, not the skimpy little candy. .Hey wait a sec, where's the products aimed towards the kids?! It'd be good if they released a MGS2 series, though. -H.Moriarty

Short Comment: Pia Carrot 3. Landlord. Hurmn.
I'm not much a fan of date-sim types of games, but Pia Carrot 3 (that waitress sim sequel) does have a good set of artists so it's gotten me a bit interested. But that landlord carrying the broom with her all over the place, does she become a waitress too? Huurmn.. might be good. Maybe I'll consider it after it's released and people rate it. -H.Moriarty
