GameSpy- "Tekken 4 is a piece of shit," says Itagaki, DOA3 Producer

(Gamespy, 8/01) " "Tekken 4 is a piece of shit," says Itagaki, "one of the worst things about Tekken 4 is the concept planning. It's really half-ass. Tekken 4 attempts 3D environments, like I did in DOA 2, but they failed miserably. They should've stayed in a 2D world. To be quite honest, I don't think they have the technique to go to 3D from 2D." "

For the rest of the interview, check Gamespy's article.

Don't get it wrong, the interview is about DOA3; Itagaki flaming Tekken 4 -though bold, is only a short part of it. This is an old article from last month, but I decided to post news since I figured that not everyone has read it yet. I wonder what Itagaki said there in Japanese... Special thanks to Eddy Tang for telling me of the interview. -H.Moriarty

Shoryuken.com- Capcom vs SNK 2 Review
[ Link: Shoryuken.com | Article | Guide ]

Major Capcom fighter game coverage site, Shoryuken.com has posted an intensive review of Capcom vs SNK 2, as well as an overview of the full game.

For the complete coverage, check the site's sections.

There's a few details I'd like to add in.
1- While rolls may be slower than CvS1, they are completely invincible in the beginning unlike CvS1. Note that the recovery from rolls differ between characters- Mai would have only 3 frames of lag while Chang has 13 frames, in example.
Also, rolls can now be used as a reversal.

2- Short jumps allow for good offence, but if an attack is done during the short jump, a 6 frame lag occurs when landing. Connecting short jump attacks to normal moves on the ground is nowhere as easy as KOF. However, the lag can be canceled by doing specials or supers when landing, allowing easy combos for some of the characters. Also, note that Parry, Just defence and special moves cannot be done during a short jump.

3- Stopping from a run leaves 11 frames of hideous lag. Better to attack, jump or roll instead.

Short Comment: Dengeki Playstation Cover, Final Fantasy X

For those of you who are Final Fantasy X fans, the cover of Dengeki Playstation magazine (Mediaworks publishing) from a few issues ago featured a fresh new artwork of Tidus and Yuna by Tesuya Nomura. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out.

Short Comment: The Return of Aibo

If you haven't seen the new Aibo models in action, now's your chance. Named Latte And Macaron, these two robitic Sony dogs just made their debut 2 days ago. Hopefully they have better hand-eye coordination than the older model. I was playing around with one just a day ago, and it couldn't find the ball it was playing with, after rolling it underneath itself.

Short Comment: Glad to help for a good laugh.

KOF2001 is starting up a lot of frenzy, and it looks like Penny Arcade is no exception. Check out their humorous but true comic strip, Sandwich day- 9/5. I'm looking forward to the game as well... Hopefully it'll be a major renewal.
