Gainax announces Rei Ayanami Growth Simulation Game
 
Gainax has announced " Neon Genesis Evangelion -Ayanami raising project", a simulation game featuring its popular character, Rei Ayanami.

As an employee of NERV, the player's role is to "educate" Rei Ayanami by planning out her schedule, week by week. The game takes place for one year, in which the player can raise Ayanami to their desire, such as make her into a character of bright personality, make her into a juvenile delinquent, or make her love the player. Numerous events are prepared in the game, some events with different graphics depending on the condition of Ayanami. Over 30 endings are available, allowing for numerous replays. "Neon Genesis Evangelion -Ayanami raising project" -a Windows95/98 compatible game, is scheduled for release on 5/18, priced 8800 Yen.

News & content provider Impress Co., is currently hosting a streaming video demo of the game in Windows Media format, 56K and 512K.

Challenger- Sengoku Denshou 2001 (MVS) Clip, Etc DownLoadable
 
One of the first sites to first report the sequel to Soul Calibur being in development for the System 246- The "Challenger" operated by an arcade chain based in Osaka Japan, , has released clips of Sengoku Denshou 2001 (SNK), Vampire Night (Sega, Namco), the contraversial Doggy-walking game from Sega, and other video clips.

Gamespot Japan- Square CG Department Head comment bits on Square CG Enviornment

(Gamespot Japan) Tokyo, Japan - In a seminar held for the general public "Silicon STUDIO Day -The Digital Contents-", Satoshi Tsukamoto; head of department to Square's CG subsidiary "Visual Works", commented a few notes on Square's current CG production enviornment.

1- Currently, CGs in Square are made by 256 Pentiums running on Linux at 800 MHZ.
2- Motion capturing is valued in Square's CG production, but manual production is also done in order to create a more natural movement.
3- The current focus in CG production is Final Fantasy X, which will be available for viewing at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.

Short Comment- Guilty Gear X Sequel to come about?

The Challenger has reported that a sequel for Guilty Gear X has been announced to be in production. The Challenger notes that while the title is not yet determined, the game is scheduled for release in Fall. Other games reported by the Challenger to be production are Virtual On 4 Force(Sega), and a fighter game from Sammy, produced by the former "Garou" team from SNK.

Short Comment: Phantasy Star Online append disk possibly to be released

According to threads of messages posted in the Bulletin Board of Phantasy Star Online's official site, an appendable disk for Phantasy Star Online is scheduled for release by Sega on 5/17. The disk, titled "Phantasy Star Online ver. 2", will bring the following additions and changes to PSO.
