Hey Rock does look kinda like the ranger in doom. But then i doubt this movie can be too great, Doom would just be another boring time-consuming quake2 if it wasn't for the scary flash light action, and if u put that on the big screen u might as well make a blair bytch project 3

I'm not sure how much I trust the "____ is in talks with ___" style of rumors since idle chit-chat doesn't mean a movie is going to get made. Still, I feel a Doom movie will only work if you don't see the lead actor and only see the barrel of whatever weapon he's toting. An entire action movie shot from the main character's POV would easily make Doom the most interesting videogame movie made to date.

The doom project with The Rock has been in the air for quite some time (I think many websites like Joblo.com talked about it more than a year and a half ago).
I don't see any particular scenario in Doom, I mean, it'd make a pretty boring movie IMO (Like, "Pac-man, the Movie!", or "Bomber-man, the Movie" you know... those are great games, but the simplicity of 'em makes them hard to port as a movie IMO), but they don't care about the quality of movies anymore anyway!

The Rock is still in the movie, apparently, just not the main guy!

Maybe he'll be the Cyberdemon.
(Think Bowser from the Mario Bros. movie)

Off topic from Doom, but on topic of game movies...

What ever happened to the Carzy Taxi movie that was going to get made? I'm a huge CT fan, but I shudder to think of a movie based on it. It never got made did it?

i'm glad you asked that question

i've been waiting for a DOOM movie ever since i was in middle school. so whether or not they make the movie, whatever. i can't take a movie with The Rock in it seriously. and you know that they'll try so hard to keep that damn Rock image to please the fans. i'm just hoping it's gonna be a great action comedy that the whole family can enjoy

There's that Taxi movie coming out with Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah. Nothing crazy about it, though...

That's a remake of the first "Taxi" from the French movie trilogy from Luc Besson, not a Crazy Taxi inspired movie...
I'm not too excited about it either.

Yeah, I was about to say- I waited since middle school to get The Rock as the Doom guy in the movie?! Bleh. Well, I don't care if the Rock is in it, just as long as he's not the main character. This movie's been kind of on-and-off for years, and it's good to hear it's being talked about again.

It's a remake of a French movie. Go watch the original, don't wait for the decaf version.

Or if you have to you can watch Wicker Park to learn your lesson (I hear it's quite awful).

And I mean, Jimmy Fallon. Come on.

Oh, and Ishmael. I'm impressed by your vision. You're hired to direct the cinematic version of doom, your budget is 16 million. Make every dollar count.

Wow, that's four million more than the budget for the House of the Dead movie and I'm certain that even though I know nothing about making movies I could still fart out a better film than that videogame adaptation. Come to think of it, I snitched that first person view idea from Orson Welles and his proposed idea to adapt Heart of Darkness as entirely from the lead character's perspective. If I pull this off I may end up being even bigger than Mr. Welles... er, I mean bigger in the realm of cinematic achievement, not in the girth department.
