Anyway, I was wondering about some music related quandaries - such as, what music's emanatin' from ya'll's music-playin' contraptions and whatnot.

(And just so this is slightly on-topic, feel free to discuss one's favorite game music.)

Lately been on a pure jazz kick, so I'm listening to KJAZ off netradio. Good stuff. Though, normally I'm normally listening to DI.FM Deep House or Modern Jazz, Jazzmusique, or GamingFM.

Also just started fooling around with PSF files, so I'm getting feelings of nostalgia off MegaMan 8 and Wild Arms music. (And, I finally get to hear what the PSX Tenguman music sounds like... yeah, I prefer the Saturn version.)

I heard about GamingFM on this board, but it's worth posting again: Link Here. They just recently added the Time and Space CD to the request list, and it's getting a lot of play already. They just got the Gradius V soundtrack too, but I haven't heard any of it yet.

Also, check out the lastest Beastie Boys video, Triple Trouble. I like it. Reminds me of the Sasquatch episode of Tenacious D.

Right now Blondie's in my CD player. I'm hesistant to get any file sharing programs for my laptop (not so much for the OMG ILLEGAL aspect as the viruses and all that bullshit I really don't want to deal with), so I've been listening to CDs more. Sonic Youth (saw them live this summer), Reggie and the Full Effect, Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer, The Killers...I had a friend burn me a lot of CDs before I left for college. I listen to basically a little of everything, but of course I have my favorites. I think my "specialties" are girl-fronted bands and 70s rock.

On a semi-related tangent (because they did play Blondie there), I saw Rupaul live at Cornell. That was an experience. Just thought I'd share.

I recently had the opportunity to listen to some of the KOF arranged soundtracks, and I'm impressed. There's a lot of things they added to the original tracks that come off very well.

And the Guilty Gear soundtracks are quite nice. I hated the Korean #Reload songs at first, but some are actually better than the originals (I'm thinking about Millia's in particular).

I started the month with the songs of Avenue Q, because the Internet is for porn.
Then, I forced myself to listen a bit more to Medulla, Bjork's latest failure experimental album, and after a few dozen times, I managed to like half of the songs quite much, so it's better.
And something of another style, I just got the CD of ZEN, the opening thema of Otougiz˘shi, with another interesting version of the song, plus another really good track, and I like it.
And lastly, I bought Brigitte Fontaine's last album, brilliant as always, plus some duo of Zazie with some guy, an extremely cruel song called "je ne t'aime pas". I know it's queer, but this particular song is very well written and evil and cruel.

And I still listen to Vespertine and the maxi CD of All is Full of Love on a daily basis.

That just reminds me of how an ex of mine up here at school is all into Bjork out of nowhere. Is it a requirement or something now? Did I miss a memo?

I'm not insulting you at all, dear Iggy. Mostly just venting about other people. Then again, perhaps I can be a little obnoxious about it because my sister got me into Bjork at a very young age. But probably not.

In my CD player is Castlevania Symphony of the Night [Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku -- translation: Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight] sound track. The game has 40 songs but this CD sound track only has 36 tracks. There are a few pages of musical score in the pamphlet.

I'm not sure I get the subtile undertext, so I'll just say... well, I like some of the songs of her first 3 albums, many of her videos, felt in love with All is full of Love, then loved Vespertine to death, and some of the songs of Medulla. I just love the sound, the words, etc. But while I can unleash a horde of Gyakuten Saiban characters upon everyone who don't like the recent episodes of Berserk, I can't really do this for Bjork. I know it's not conventional pop thing that you can hear on the radio or anything, and some people like it, some don't. Oh well.

I don't know Rahzel... And while Vespertine was a great album, with a strong directive line and all, and Medulla also has such a concept (but she failed to achieve it), her first 3 albums are quite normal, I think ? I mean, they are average albums with several separate songs that can be liked or not, some fast, some slow... No ?

quote:
Ah.
Who is this, and what are they doing?

The band is called Attack Haus and... I'm totally ignorant in music- related vocabulary. I think I can say it's hard rock ? And it's japanese, but it manages to be really good. Surprise.

Does it utilize a lot of weird electronic beats and such? If it does, since it's got a semi-German name, then you could probably call it industrial.

I've been on a "Last Regrets" kick lately. So I have like, 5 versions of this song on my playlist with a couple from Glove on Fight (Power of Love and Nothing Personalities), some DDR/Bemani music, some anime themes (mostly Bubblegum Crisis OVA vocals), and a few SF tunes.

And some Quarterflash. Uh, yeah. I wonder if this falls under the category of

The whole soundtrack for Garden State (which I haven't seen) seems like pretty hot stuff, I hear it playing around campus and especially my friend's room...cool mix of the Shins and some funky European sounding bands like Frou Frou...moody electro-rockin' stuff.

Kotoko fills my mp3 coolection with much love, as does other hits from I've. All nice little J-pop numbers that are both modern yet also have the classic feel I like (I'm not a fan of modern R&B J-pop). That and Maaya Sakamoto as well....

As for rock, well lets just say most of my listening time has been spent focused on the classic 80's metal album, Spinal Tap's Black Album (The one Metallica ripped off). Words alone can't describe how awesome it is. Big Bottoms is still a classic to this day...

And of course the usual from The Who, Bob Dylan and The Beatles. All the stuff you young hipsters probably heard about from your parents...

probot? i kinda didn't expect them to have that old dirty metal sound, but it isn't entirely suprising, especially since the way theyve been described. then i saw the site though and kinda though more otherwise. anyway, progressive is so art-rocky that this probably isn't what i'm trying to hear right now, but i listen to so much stuff it isn't a big deal. Then again in Red War they bust out the death voice, that was pretty awesome.

at any rate, i like the idea for the project i guess, we'll see.
