KO94 is worse than 96. Or, if you´re talking arcs... KOF95 is worse than 97. KOF99 is worse than 2001 (even if 2001 has the worst graphics and sound).
FF3 is better than FF1 and 2. Or... FFS is better than FF1 and 2.
AOF... All lame.
This is certainly true, but you have to consider when each game came out, too. Sure, today, I'd rather play FF3 than FF1, but when it came out, it wasn't as exciting as when FF1 came out. Same goes with KOF 96 vs 94. It's not right to say "worst in the series", but maybe something like "biggest disappointment"?
And we've forgotten Samurai Spirits 3 which is widely held as quite terrible, although...again, I'd rather play it than SS1.

You, sinners who do not vote for SFA3!
3S is not bad at all, what with a bunch of interesting characters that finally feel complete (as opposed to the previous SF3 games...), but after playing it for awhile, I stop playing it... because I get bored of it? I don't doubt that it's a good game, but I don't know of any top notch fighter that loses its taste during a session the way 3S does.
SFA3 has really got everything. Characters that are well-made and interesting to play (the rethink of Cody is fabulous), a fast and fluid feel (air recovery + loose juggles = fun for all), good presentation, good music, hilarious little touches (Dan's win quotes! Cody saying how good it is to have more than two moves! Guy + Cody intro! Cody punch super! etc.), SFA3 is one of the best representatives of the Capcom that WAS. It's like comparing the SNK that made SvC:MotM to the one that made KOF2k2; where'd that scintillating brilliance go?
All of those games are good, but SFA3 is the one that really clicks with me.

I had to go with Alpha 3 on this one. I've never loved a fighting game quite the way I love this one. I love almost all of the music, the backgrounds...it had the biggest cast of all the SF games with only one characters I don't like, I love the pop-ups on fierce/roundhouse/special move counters, there was a great amount of story and character interaction...and then there's the little things, like Mika's great, gorgeous BUTTOCKS, the pre-fight intros with certain characters (Rose-Bison, Ryu-Evil Ryu, Evil Ryu-Akuma, Gen-Akuma, Zangief-Mika, Guile-Charlie, etc, etc, etc), the awesome announcer (tied with CvS2, Tekken Tag/T4, and the Soul Edge/Calibur games as my favorite announcer), and the way the title screen has different animations every time it comes up if you let the game run.
I like the other games on the list (with the only exception being KoF '98...don't like that too much), but Vampire Savior really needs to be on this list. It comes really, really close second to SFA3 as my favorite fighting game.

I voted for 3s. If it were a ranking thing, for me, it'd probably go: 3s, KOF98, A3, Garou, GGX#R
I've never been a huge fan of GG, but I think it's because it's too spazzy for me to play decently (ditto MvC2, but I actually hate that game). I like the character designs, I just can't play it for crap (it doesn't help that the arcade here put GGX in a Mortal Kombat cabinet, and the button layout is screwed up...)
Therefore, I like Asuka 120% FINAL and EFZ more than GG, if only because I can Aerial Rave better in those games... ^^;
