Normally I would say something like "Oh, well...that's not good news for ME" or I would warn people about how the game actually kinda sucks or something, but in this case, I haven't played it yet, so...yaaaaaay! I want to -finally- play an RPG in English that I haven't already played in Japanese.

Do you mean the other games of the series suck ? I haven't played any and never had the occasion to, so I'm curious about it.

I've played the entire series (except for the wonderswan games which may or may not be just ports) and I liked every one except Atelier Lillie, though the early games were somewhat simplistic in nature and really only meant to play in short bursts like fighting games or somesuch. I actuallly wrote an overview of the series, but for some reason it was never posted where it was supposed to.

Atelier Iris, however, is a full blown RPG with a nice battle system, a nice story... well everything about the game is very nice. It's not ambitious like SMT:N or backed by a big budget like FFX was, but I enjoyed playing it a lot. I even plan on getting the english version when it's released since I didn't understand the story quite as well as I would have liked.

Got Next - it's a gaming site I write stupid things for

Actually, this is one of the few series I've never looked into at all. I can't play everything, and things that look too "anime" or have dumb-looking girls usually get cut the fastest. And yet...somehow I end up playing Tengai Makyou.

I'm not trying to insult the design in the Atelier games...actually...argh...there was one of the games, I think 2 games ago (they make them so frequently) that had a design for the main character that I REALLY loved. I want her dress. It's just that there's so many of them and they don't look terribly engaging.

Iris... I personally found everything in the game to be extremely generic. The story, the characters, the world, the events, etc. Nothing really stood out in the game. And the main story was incredibly predictable.

For me, the story/character portion of the game was even worse than Phantom Brave, but the game elements were fun enough for me to finish the game and the extra dungeon at least... yes.
