Hello Everyone. I was just wondering if i should invest seeing Hero with Jet Li. Is this movie censored and dubbed like shaolin soccer and Kill Bill? Because if it is i won't waste my money on it.

the kill bill censor was at least tasteful, it certainly wasn't worth skipping the movie on...
you sorta hate the movie if you think so actually.

Thank you for your support.
I saw it tonight, it's not dubbed and it doesn't appeared to be heavily censored (although it's been a while since I've seen the original)
I suggest that you go see it, some of the scenes are amazing.

I dont hate the movie but i feel offended that they cut 3 minutes out of the runtime along with that needless black and white scene towards the end.

If you like some fancy swordplay, and Jet Li in a more impressive role than his Hollywood craps, then yes. The storyline didn't quite rock for me, though.

huh? Me neither. What did they cut within these 3 minutes? From which point of the movie are they taken?
Damn censorship.

hero's not censored...there wasn't really anything to censor anyway. I saw the dvd twice, and just saw it in the theatre last night...seemed intact to me.
actually they added a little bit at the beginning and the end, under the text. I didn't like the translation quite as much in the theatrical release either.
buy the directors cut(chinese) if you can find it, extra 30 min of film

So, should I just skip out on even watching this in the theater, and instead try and find the DVD?

I saw it twice in theatres when it was playing here a year or so ago, and I'd definitely recommend it. Definitely one of the most visually impressive movies I've ever seen, and I can't imagine a TV screen doing it justice.
I don't know the exact differences between the Swedish and the American versions, but I don't think it'd be possible to edit it so much it wouldn't be worth to catch in theatres... hell, I'd even see it dubbed if I had to. I would (and will, when I have money) get the extended DVD too, though.

Oroch- your avatar rules, of course. EVERYONE LOVES MAGICAL MII
As for Kill Bill, I thought the black and white section was intentional (I mean other than for the rating)... I'm sure I'm wrong, but that's the impression I got.
Anyway, I'm hoping Hero isn't censored, but I haven't seen the original, so I wouldn't know anyway. Heh heh. It looks pretty good.... the movie's out now, right?

Anyone know where I can find a script?
This silly Chinese DVD doesn't have subtitles for the opening and closing text sequences.

It's out and ended up being number 1 at the US box office this weekend.
Let me add my endorsment of seeing Hero on the big screen as well. I enjoyed the movie when I first saw it on DVD but it's one of those movies that's designed to be seen in the theater. It's also probably one of the nicest looking pro-Communist movies made since Eisenstein was working.
