KOF Neowave added too many cancels and juggles, but combos are looking better.

Only saw the first vid, but it seems pretty cool, yet pretty bare bones in a way, like Street Fighter 2 seems to be now after everything that came after it. I think I would like it more than 2k2, but that's damning with faint praise.

Thanks for the link to the... Samurai videos. Interesting Gaira and Rimururu there, plus a good Basara and Kazuki.
The NW matches... I don't understand how the matches of 02 seem so much better in comparison. Maybe the players are more skilled?

Karnov... ahaha. I totally forgot Zazie, he is quite funny for current french people.

Nice bonus for Iggy. ; )

Those SSZS vids are better then challenger-am or A-CHO.

Thanks for the link. The NW bored me after just 1 download. But the 3S matches, did you guys catch 'em? Damn, that Necro is NASTY. I've seen smaller subsets of the combos he made, those are regular Necro combos, but… they were a lot longer then I'm used to. Damn, he was nasty. I mean 40% life combos. Its like, you know he gets the first hit in and you know its over for the other.

On the one hand thats cool. On the other... its just another stupid flaw in 3S. How fair is it that one mistake can cost you 40% of your life-- this is not ST we're playing here.

The SS player here find this totally awesome on the contrary, since the combos are definitely not some KOF thing but simple move, nearly chain combos.
Plus seeing 2 Necros beating Ken and a Q nearly defeating him made my day (or maybe Ken was just that bad, I don't know). Plus the Dudley was cool, but Dudley is always cool.

I don't understand your statement about "not some KOF thing." What do you mean? These 3S combos are not like your typical KOF combos? Please elaborate.

I love the 3S engine. I think its the best engine out there. Better then the CvS2 engine. I think the only thing that CvS2 has 3S beat is in number of characters and number of play options (grooves). Other then that, 3S has a superior engine (IMO). Having said that, the game needed MAJOR damage reduction. There are no infinites in normal gameplay (AFAIK) but still, quite a few characters have 40-50% combos. Sometimes it required a super combo or super meter, but still, that's bad. It seriously unbalances the tiers between characters who cannot dish out long combos and those who can, and between players who can dish out long combos and those who can't. Ugh, one mistake and your dead-- thats just wrong.

Anyway, rant off. Aside from the many flaws in 3S, it remains my all time favorite game. Too bad it was the last one in the series! D'oh. One more revision and they might have gotten it perfect.

Well, it's Iggy's fault because he is speaking about good KoFs and not crappy ones (on 2k3 for example you can chunk out 100% with stupid things)... Most likely Iggy is talking about 2002 and some neat MAX mode combos or about 2001 and the combos that are actually hard to pull off.

That being said, SF III 3rd strike was a neat game, and always remember that you can set the damage to your liking; so you can't truly made a point about that issue.

Well, I'm bumping this thread because I want to see some samusupspe action XD

...Which isn't too good of one to begin with...not that I don't play the game.

A good engine is SFA3... except for the crouch cancel infinites... and the too-easy unblockables.

Dammit, I had a point here.

cvs2 is odd, but admirable in the big picture i think

i dont think i'll be able to play sfa3 again though. the whole idea behind a fighter, or being good at one anyway, is the ability to control space, and i just can't handle only being able to chug across the screen anymore. no dash, no roll, not even a step. sigh. i miss it a little though.

but i guess you could say it's it's tactical in comparison to other stuff.

though even more frantic games like gg pull that off with a lot of characters too

Care to elaborate those 100% combos? If it is related with Duo Lon, speak no further.

I was just speaking about the combo you need to learn and practice, until you are able to pull the off eyes closed (doko-cancel and such).
I like games that reward 1 hit reactiveness, Vampire or SS, and though 3rd strike has those corner combo, the game is slow enough to let you think "hey ! I think I can put something more here" and you try a crouching HP, and then you realize you can put something else, and so on, intuitively. Well, of course, Geineijin-s and other nasty things require training, but with most of game I never felt stupid because I had the feeling I was supposed to combo something after that hakuchôno mai (and even when I knew what to do I couldn't because the port was crappy)
I prefer to train to parry things that can be usefull in many situations than learn something that won't be useful until I manage to pull off that crouching WK with 4 gauges to begin with.

We got the usual King, Kim, Yuri to Tag -> Terry issues; there is also the 'almost kill' nastiness with Shen, Ash, Hinako, Robert, K' and a long and boring Etc.

I don't quite know the details (can't care less about the game), but most of my friends do 70 or 100% combos.

The main thing is knowing how to get the Tag attack...
with Duo Lon is easy, cr A, Qcf A, f B, Qcb A, tag attack
with Shen is risky, jumping C, cr A, bitch slap, walk foward, C and tag attack... People thing that can be escaped but they haven't managed to do so.

The good old 100%; Kim jump D, C, Leader DM, A, tag attack, King Qcb + B, Qcb x 2 + B... You can also finish it with Terry instead of King and still have 100% combo.

With Terry the usual
-> Tag attack, short hop foward C, C, power dunk, brake, crack shot to buster wolf or power geyser (corner, this alone is 50% or something)
-> Tag attack, short hop foward C, A, Power dunk, brake, Leader DM (anywhere, this alone 65% or something)
-> If the Tag attack juggled the enemy then power dunk, brake, Leader DM (anywhere, this alone is 50% or something)

With Sheng the usual
-> Tag attack, short hop foward C, D, Qcf x 2 + D (this alone is something like 45%)

With K' the usual
-> Tag attack that juggled the enemy, Qcf + A, f + D, Leader DM or any DM, it can be tricky to land that Qcf + A but with practice is easy.

Yuri and Ash also had some juggling thing, but I don't recall exactly and I don't recall more, but I'll ask around the next time I meet the guys on the arcade... As I said, most things are obvious so I didn't play attention to it.
