Anyone been watching? I just caught the U.S. women's soccer team win the gold, 2-1 in overtime. That. Was close. Brazil had two shots hit the side posts, although I would argue that this was karma activated in response to their second half thuggery. Those were some cheap fouls Brazil pulled. No offense to Brazilians, who are great positive fans, among all of their other great qualities.

By the way, what's ya'll's opinion on the U.S. men's basketball team? I thought two interesting articles about the situation may be found here and here. My take? If nothing else, poor shooting isn't a character flaw. Also, that Spanish coach was a prick. That being said, he is not a reflection upon Espana itself. You're all wonderful people.

By the way, is it possible that Juan's at the Olympics? Just wondering.

*end ramble*

Anyway, here's an Olympics thread! DISCUSS

the fouls were funny. it got to thirty-something fouls before the game ended. around the twenty foul mark, i remember the announcer saying something like "you'll see men's soccer games that don't reach twenty fouls." i don't watch a lot of soccer games, so it was really cool seeing fouls being used strategically. also nice to see U.S. win, one final goodbye for those women retiring. even though it kinda looked like a hand ball before their first goal. (not that i'm complaining)

i'm waiting to see the men's Italy vs Iraq. very cool to see Iraq come out of nowhere and play so nicely. it'll be awesome to see the underdogs get a bronze

and WHAT ABOUT VOLLEYBALL, SLUTS. i was crying when U.S. women messed up their final set against Brasil, especially after that lovely comeback. i wanted to see Logan Tom pull off more insanity. we'll see how far the U.S. men get later on

I caught some of the guys wrestling a few days back only to realize I was watching the female wrestling when the announcer mentioned that of the olympians had been wrestling since she was in high school. Yikes!

Wouldn't help. They needed some consistent shooters. And some guys from the all-defense team. Hell, just sending Detroit would have probably been enough.
