Well, it comes from a 2chaneller who claims he got the next Famitsu early, so there is a possibility of dema. ....but still.....
The ennemies would not be shibitos anymore, but 闇人 (yamibito ?) (I imagine shadows attacking you like the ennemies of Ico...). Sight jacking will still be here, and you will be able to sight jack dogs or other animals (the fact there were no animals in Siren 1 puzzled me, so I like this). Two pages of interview : The game won't be a direct sequel of the first one. Whatever it means, I read it like a "even if the game is crappy, the scenario won't screw up retrospectively what we did in Siren 1".
Oh, and still from my favourite 2ch lurker : FF12 in january, on 2 DVD ; DQ8 would be ready before the end of the year (end of november!?), and Killer 7 would be released the 7th of december. But since they are all uninteresting games compared to Siren 2, I don't make a new thread for them. The people who didn't click on the potential kamige name don't deserve to know such things. (things that can be false until the magazine comes out, as I said).
So, the Squenix game that won't be ready in 2004 and would only be released in the fiscal year 2005 would be KH2... I hadn't foreseen that. Oh, and there seem to be bits of informations on MGS3, but since no one like this series, I won't bother writing it here.

Actually, amongst the uninteresting bits, the limited editions should come with figurine(s).

The game happens on a deserted island, yomino shima (yamijima, yomojima ?夜見島) The ennemies are yamibito-s 闇人, and their weak point is the light (like Dadakko?)(and does it mean you will be able to kill them this time?)
How is the game related to Siren 1 ? Could the island be related to, hum, "the place where the shibito were trying to reach" ?
Darkness... If they keep the same time schedule as in Siren 1 (which they may totally not do), I guess the missions that happen by daytime will be more about exploration and puzzle, while those by night will be about fighting and surviving?
And then, they'd better remake the engine totally to have beautifull light effects (at least at the level of SH3). Speaking of which... since the idea of having a dead character back as a monster is fabulous, I wonder if the yamibito won't be ghosts... And if they are, I can't wait to see how they compare to those of SH4 (especially since if they can go through walls, in a Siren 1 - like global environnement, it might become extremely... unpleasant).
And thanks to my favourite 2ch lurker for all this.

(I won't translate everything, just resume bits of it) The yominoshima is completely different from Hanyûda and has no ties with it. Toyama feels Siren 1 is complete as it is and doesn't want to go back and touch anything to it. The story of Siren 1 is finished. Siren 2 happens in the same world, that's the only link. The story also is different. There also won't be any returning character.
The game takes place in 2005, like the first Siren who took place the year it was released. (they'd better not be late if they announce it that early)
The island is weird, but in a different way of Hanyûda. There is no story about a cult or anything, no Silenthillesque stupidity. Toyama thinks it's a bad thing to make a new game with bits you can't understand if you haven't played the game before, so even if you haven't played Siren 1, there won't be any trouble in playing this one. The central thing of the game will be a sort of legend that has been told in the island.
There is a theme parc on the island, but it's abandonned and the attractions won't move. Like the rest, it comes from the time when the island was flourishing. Since it's an island, there will be several places with the sea nearby. There is a fishermen village, there is also a mine from the time it was the industry of the island, and there is a huge tower in the center of the island. This tower is extremely important to the story. It can be seen from nearly every place in the island, and you can see the whole island from the top of it. There is also a sunken ship, which will have the same feeling as the school of Siren1 : a closed environement, from where you try to escape, where every exit is closed.
This time there won't be only red water but also red light. But it's completely different from the red water of Siren 1. The shibito will also have a completely different reason to be there. In a way, the Siren team rebuilds everything from scratch. (so the shibito will be back). They will evolve as you play, and beside them, there will be some sort of a 3rd group, the yamibito. The yamibito and the shibito won't be acting together for the same goal. Toyama don't want to reveal much, but if their goals seems to be the same, it differs strangely (I guess he means : they both want to kill the human characters, but in different ways and for different results). They do share bits in common, but he doesn't want to say much more about it. Anyway, the yamibito aren't a poweruped version of the shibito, like the dogs and the spiders. Like the shibito, the yamibito can attack you with weapons, but as the game will continue, the nuance between the two will be more and more important. They don't work for the same goal as the shibito, they also don't like them (but not as much as you could say the two groups are ennemies). There are several types of yamibito, and as you go into the game stronger yambibito will appear. Their appearance will also change a lot more than those of the shibito.
I'm more hyped than I ever was for any game.

I'm not sure for a few details, so if you can correct a few things, feel free to.
It's a closed island, but it's only recent. There used to be a lot of inhabitants, but one day, at midnight, the submarine cable was cut for an unknown reason, and all the electricity was shut down. In only one night, everyone perished. It happenned 29 years ago.
At midnight, a siren rings over the red water surrounding the island, and they come back from the bottom of the sea, led by... something.
You can steal weapons from your opponents this time, but they will be stronger than in Siren 1. (steal weapons and ammo from the snipers ?)
One character has the power to sight jack and see events of the past (!)
You can drive cars and use them for various things.
The people with you won't be only there to be protected, but they will also help you to fight ennemies (I hope they won't be as stupid as the moron of SH4)
The yamibito don't like the light, so they will often hide and attack you from a point where you won't see them (pictures of yamibito, they are dressed in black, have a very pale skin, blood tears, and... some sort of thing that ressembles the kukuritsutsumi, for those who know what it is. Hard to describe. and kimoi).
The yamibito can't go through enlightened places. but then, they will try to destroy the sources of light (I guess they are the ones who cut the cable 29 years ago?)
Now, what's this with the year 1976 again ?

quote: But I do hope they tweak the difficulty. God knows how much I compained about it already, but they need to stack the deck less in favor of the enemies (oh, but I'm just moaning myself into another flame war, pay no attention to me).
In the sequel, they'll have to meet the expectations of the rabbid fans of the first game like me, who want as much moe characters, a scenario as complex and as well directed as the one of the first one, and a difficulty as high, even higher ; plus they have to deal with the ones who thought the first game was unplayable. That quite sounds like an impossible mission to me, they'll have to make choices... Eh.
