my virus scan's doing pretty good by destroying them before they do too much damage, but the first virus (JS_IESTART.PS) already changed my home page. the page it redirects to uploads a trojan (TROJ_STILEN.A), along with annoying installation popups with no "red x" to close the window manually (if you see this window, ctrl-alt-del and close the window from there). i can't even view those trendmicro pages right now because it's being blocked by one of the virii
anyways, play it safe and just don't go there, unless you have a trusty firewall set up, or you like walking on the wild side. i'll post here again when it's safe

I bet you're still using Internet Explorer, aren't you? Usually, those things are from the annoying pop-ups that Mozilla blocks automatically!

No wonder you got a virus, you use PC-cillin! I used it since it came free with my motherboard, but got infested in no time, even with the daily updates and all. I ghosted my system and installed Norton Anti-virus, then I had no problems ever since (Norton can actually FIX the problems instead of just telling you you're infected. PC-cillin just told me and almost laughed at me, so I deleted the bastard!) NOTE: there are really good antiviruses besides Norton, I just mentionned that one because it's the one I use.

But seriously, that sucks. Thankfully I haven't felt the need to use Supernova for a long while. I don't download licensed anime and get my fansubs from different sources. It's also rather uncommon for me to download games or warez from there.

Find the "Hosts" file at C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts (No file extention - it's just "hosts"); that's the one that associates a web URL with an IP number. Some people use this file to kill flash advertizements or pop-ups. Open it up with Notepad or whatever text editor still works. By default, it should only have one entry for 127.0.0.1/Localhost. Delete any other entries you find.
One of the trojans that took down my parent's laptop redirected a lot of search engine/antivirus/spyware searcher sites to some banner-filled site. I wasn't able to go anywhere useful until I cleaned the Hosts file.

Is Suprnova safe yet? I need to redownload Cool Cool Toon and see if it's the download or my burn that makes a level's music skip around a bit.
