I wonder what kind of improvements there's going to be. A new character? Hell if they increase the difficulty any more from evo... it's going to be down right impossible to play.

Although it has been a while since I have red up on Final Tuned it seems that there will be some graphic improvement, be items and some new moves. I saw a vid where Kage had a four hit air combo after his dragon punch. I also read that you can customize the moveset and put back moves evolution took out. Maybe I will get a console version, but SEGA is really pushing me by making 3 versions of VF4.

SEGA... make VF5 for pete's sake... enough with 4 already!

Pffff... no wonder they are working on The Matrix Online with that milking philosophy!

VF4 is their top money maker in arcades and Sammy told them to focus more on arcades, so that's what they're doing. VF5 is in development, but I'm sure it's not due for a long time yet.

Updated when I can... which isn't very often. ^_^;;

An improved version of VF4 is better than a shitty VF5, no ? At least that's what I would think.

Hmmm... yeah, you're probably right... Anyway, as long as people buy their shit, you can't blame them for making it, eh!

That would be great if they gave Sarah some of her combos from original VF4 back. I remember she was a really fun character to play until they toned down her dragon cannon move in Evolution.

Dammit, I wish this game was on XBox with Live support. Not only would it look as good as the arcade version, but it'd be so fun playing against more people. That plus the already-deep Quest mode would make this game impossible to put down, IMO.

Er they already made her Flamingo better in Evo to the point of being one of the most annoying and feared things in the game. Balanced as VF4Evo is, it's a pain in the ass to deal with.

Ew. Online support = lag. Lag = VF moving or playing slowly. When you have moves and combos requiring incredibly precise movements within FRAMES of each other, you lose that ability online. Akira's single Frame Knee would be nigh impossible to do effectively.

I'm not bitching at you, just kind of disagreeing. :P

I guess that could be true... I'm not really that good with the Flamingo stance, but I'm sure people who play her aggressively would be hard to deal with. I have noticed that her backwards flip during FL is probably one of the hardest things to punish. Saw someone do it a lot to run away... didn't see too many things that could counter.

No problem. I guess that does make a lot of sense. Maybe someday when we get a connection that's more optimized than cable.

I remember my friend trying to learn Akira's hardest move (the one which is even harder than the SPOD). He practiced that move for a month, and that move only came out for him once or twice. I can imagine how much harder that would be to do online.

Well... Don't play online then. Just because you wouldn't enjoy it doesn't mean there aren't other people who would. :)

It's not an issue of me not liking it so much as it is the game itself being utterly unplayable in its proper form. A lot of characters would be flat out crippled by it. It'd be more severe than Tekken players possibly complaining about JF if Tekken went online.

But still - surely there are lots of people who either don't know/care about such things (noobs, scrubs, whatever you call them), or don't have major lag issues.
I can see where you're coming from, but I don't see how including the possibility to play online would automatically make the game worse.

Noobs and scrubs have SC2, Tekken 4 and 5 and the DOA series - Virtua Fighter is not aimed at that audience nor does it make any sence to aim it at them.

VF4 Evo dominates the Japanese arcades and it will continue to do so thanks to Final Tuned. There are hundreds and hundreds of simple games for people who arent skilled at videogames to play - there has to be something for the dedicated players to be able to get involved in without quickly reaching the ceiling of the level of technique possible.

Virtua Fighter is about the players as much as it is about the game system, it's a totally different product to what Namco etc are putting out.

Dude, Tekken 5 ISN'T EVEN OUT YET and you're already flaming it?

Tekken 4 looks and sounds like a whole different game when it's high-level play gets described (kinda like TTT and the other Tekkens too, actually)... All the insane wave dashing stuff makes it sound really neat to me... though it could also be extremely stupid when it's being put into practice. I don't know, I don't play Tekken.

I liked Tekken 4, but I wasn't much of a Tekken player to begin with. People I knew who played Tekken religiously until T4 came out mentioned how unbalanced and butchered the gameplay was. The whole thing with the wall combos were really unfair and Jin's 1-2 punch stopped almost everything anyone could put out.

Whatever T4 did to turn off the hardcore players, it really hastened them to bring out another Tekken that much faster, didn't it? I hope Tekken 5 will bring the fans back... too many fighters are starting to become dormant or broken.

What I don't understand is why Xbox Live has so many lag problems. When I played Mark of the Wolves, KOF, and Last Blade on Kaillera, I hardly ever had any problems with lag. I could still pull off complicated combos, my opponents could still pull off complicated combos, and we only very occasionally whiffed supers because of lag. I even recognized a lot of the longest combos from the MotW tournament vids that someone posted awhile ago, and I recognized them from my opponents in Kaillera. So where is this problem coming from? Can you not see see your opponent's ping in Xbox Live games or something?

Er, that's not exactly what I was aiming for. I have a feeling that DoAU will be more than playable, but that's mainly due to the architecture of the game not being as timing reliant as VF or even TTT/4/5. If I get an Xbox, it actually WOULD be kinda fun to play DoA online with other people just for some variety. Even if the game is slightly broken. >_>

Having actually watched some T4 tournament videos, WDing is certainly crazy to watch (though I was finally able to do it after a while thanks to playing, er, VF ^^; ). Though my only complaints about T4 are the same as everyone else's: Jin being an almighty Odin in the game, walls in general (comboing or otherwise) and the controls being messed with so that pressing down makes you walk instead of crouch (controls in general, again). T5 apparently fixes all of these.

I don't know about other fighters on XBox, but do you think it was possible that CvS2 used the same net code as the Dreamcast JPN version? I heard some people make accusations regarding that. It would make sense, because the JPN DC version would probably have been optimized for a dial-up modem. If that's true, I hope the upcoming SF Anniversary Collection doesn't suffer the same fate with SF3:3S.

There are a lot of other Live games that seem to play better... but I don't know if it's because it's optimized better, or if it could be other factors.
