For the first time, Microsoft is allowing an Xbox game to be completely overhauled via an Xbox Live patch. The new Ninja Gaiden will feature new enemies, new weapons, a new camera, better AI, a faster gameplay engine, a bunch of mystery extras that they won't talk about, and all without any new levels, meaning that the game will be fundamentally changed, rather than added to.

The patch should be available in early August.

That's good to know... but maybe I should consider keeping it, I mean MK Deception does have on-line puzzle mode (and as soon as I cancel it that's when the DoA:U upgrades will come out!)

Having DOA: Online and not xbox live seems a big silly to me. :p

Yeah, this is great news. I'm sure the patch will come in offline form sometime later.

Updated when I can... which isn't very often. ^_^;;

Ahh! Awesome! Man, it sucks that Team Ninja's the only one really taking advantage of the XBox's ability to patch games and upgrade them. The only other game I can think of that's done that is Splinter Cell with the new levels. You've got to appreciate Team Ninja doing these things...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an off-line update. It wouldn't make sense if they didn't make one...

Or if you want to be devious, if you have your Xbox modded, I am sure the patch will be posted on the net to download and put on your HD.

Wouldn't it? Team Ninja's next game is going to be an Xbox Live online fighting game. This is probably a precursor to Dead or Alive: Online's release, with the intention of easing people into Xbox Live instead of presenting them with the combined cost of a $60 game and an Xbox Live subscription at the same time when they want DOA:O, which could potentially hurt sales.

That's a possible explanation, but I don't think they'd have anything to worry about whether or not people will buy it. I think Live's got a fairly large amount of users (or large enough, anyway), plus DOA:O will have that one player mode that the off-line group (me, for example) ca play.

There's no telling. They may keep it online to make people want Live more, or they might release it off-line, too. I'm hoping they're going to do both...
