It's Ep1&2 with server side character saves (no more offline). It's also got a slew of new areas/monsters, and a new chick on Pioneer 2. I'm willing to bet there will be exclusive quests for it, too, which will probably lead into Universe (like how Blue Star Memories leads into Ep.3).

That new stuff isnt on the open beta... it was in the closed though

Heh heh -- got an AIM name, ICQ #, or e-mail?

And actually... I've heard there is a heavy language barrier, since, reportedly everything's in Japanese, with not much menu-type English about. I don't know first-hand -- I haven't tried it yet.

Also -- screens! From 41 on, I believe, is that stuff beyond Episode 1. Not having played beyond Ep 1, I don't know what belongs to Episode 2, or what's the new stuff, exactly.

Thanks for the information. No offline means my interest is almost nothing though. I had always hoped that we'd get a version at some point that would work over a LAN...

That's all Episode II stuff. Though it looks deceptively nice, as if it wasn't a fourth-tier port of a five-year old game engine.

Actually, one the PSO private server pages lists some way of doing that. They have the software available to make a PC a PSO Server -- and then for the PC version, you just run a program that does a simple hack to change the connecting IP to the server's IP. I'm sure you could set up a LAN game that way.

(If it also works for Dreamcast -- which it should, since the private server itself supports both DC/PC -- you'll need to use Codebreaker to change the IP. I can't seem to find info offhand on what hex values exactly you'd need and which ones are the IP variables, though.)

Or -- if you don't want to go through all that -- everyone in the room could just connect to the same on-line server and the same game.
