Won't change my opinion about the movie. I thought it sucked.

George Lucas needs to stop revising stuff if it isn't broken. The upcoming Star Wars DVDs are proof of this lameness. Episode 6 will have the original Anakin in the ghost scene at the end replaced by the new prequel Anakin. Makes me want to vomit.

I thought that was going to be done after the third episode came out. I didn't think that was going to take place yet. I thought I read that the release in September would have the Special Editions from the re-release of the trilogy in theatres in the 90's.

About the original topic, I think in a way if the changes to this movie are made for the reason he mentioned, then it might be ok. I mean, I am in theatre, and a play is never the same every time you see it, especially when there are multiple productions of it. This is a new release of the movie in theatres and it's kind of like the release of a play with a different director, or a director who is directing the same play a second time. They wouldn't direct it the same way twice. I only recently began to think this way. I know we're talking about a movie and not a play, but it is getting a theatrical release at a very different time.

I still think we should get a release of the original untouched trilogy on DVD.

If I was Sebastian Shaw (The original Anakin in Return of the Jedi) I would be pissed that Lucas deleted me from the film. Granted it was Lucas's film, but this is a little ridiculous.

George Lucas is not an artist and is a bad director.

The fact that he released the movies as a finished piece/ product when we saw them, and is now "re-working" them (IE just adding flashy polish to them without adding really any more substance at all) and not allowing the fans to have their undefiled version of their favorite film is retarded. Lucas needs to be considerate of his audience instead of this arrogant "Star Wars is MINE!! I know I didn't really direct the second and third ones, and the new ones are awful, but they're MINE to alter! Ha ha! Kiss the originals goodbye, bitches!!" Then he laughs all the way to the bank. These "re-touched" versions should just be like novelties, instead of replacements for the versions people have grown up with and ACTUALLY want to watch.

Yeah, why'd they just replace Anakin with the much-younger version and leave Obi-Wan and Yoda all old like they were when they died? Why not replace Yoda with the CG one and Obi-Wan with Ewan MacGregor?

Heh heh heh... man, they should start "re-working" really old movies... like, take Gone With the Wind and replace the dummy dead bodies with CG bodies, and put like, CG hats on Scarlett when she wasn't wearing one, and they should take the Wizard of Oz and colorize the black and white parts and make Citizen Kane into an anime... yeah, we can really clean those crappy old movies up and fix them since the original directors totally f***ed everything up. Ooh! And we can re-shoot La Jette so that there's full motion and it's not in that retarded black and white crap and get Justin Timberlake to sing while Heather Graham narrates. Man, the CG in that one would be so awesome.

Well, Yoda and Obi-Wan died when they were old, maybe that's why their souls/spirits look old.
Anakin looks young because he looked like that when he turned into Darth Vader, so maybe this is a way to simbolize he "died" when he surrended to the dark side.

Damn, discussing Star Wars movies? Am I really that bored???

Like I said, we should still get a release of the original untouched version of the Star Wars Trilogy. I suppose I'm trying to play devil's advocate, as all I ever hear are complaints about changes, etc.

Yeah, I know. I guess I just used your post as a reference to where the comments I made came from. Although I can't say I'm a Star Wars fan in the least (loved it when I was little, don't care/ sick to death of it now), but Lucas is wrong for depriving the fans of the version they want to see. They want the un-touched version they liked so much to begin with (digitally remastering it doesn't count... just all that retarded CG and horrible re-edited scenes). Heh heh. I'm just waiting for him to make a Special Edition: SPECIAL EDITION version and make them even worse.

Stuff like this makes me glad I don't care too much about the movies.
I think I've seen each one maybe once through. I'm lucky that I can match title to movie number...

What is really horrible is the CG never blends in well. Rubber costumes and models looked so much better.

Hahaha, I don't know if that's a legit picture or if a fan decided to doctor up a shot for laughs but if it is real that's hysterically awful.

I'm sure it's a fake, but I totally wouldn't put it past Lucas to do it for real.

It's fake. It's Hayden's head pasted over the head of Sebastian. It's Sebastian's body.

Well... this has me confused. Sure, I think Lucas would do something like this to Star Wars. But seeing the evidence, now I'm not so sure.
