I'm about to pre-order MB:Re-Act from HimeyaSoft and I'm trying to decide whether I should order the QoH games too.

Are 98, 99, and 2001 different enough to all be worth getting, or should I save some money and just get one of them? The only thing I know is that 99 has 2 vs 2 while 2001 is just 1 on 1. I don't know anything about 98...

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that if you are getting Re.ACT you have to get Melty Blood. Re.ACT is an expansion disk (or upgrade) that requires Melty Blood.

As of Queen of Hearts, I only played 98. I didn't like it. MB and QoF are on completely different leagues, if you ask me. Dunno about 99.

$24? That's a little hefty for a 1500 yen product.

I got the impression (from some message boards) that 99 and 2k1 were pretty good... but I haven't been able to try them for myself yet. I love MB, but if the gameplay for QoH is different and good in its own way, I definitely wouldn't mind.

Yeah, I know HimeyaSoft jacks up the prices, but I don't know of any other ways to get them. If I go through Yahoo Japan Auctions, the prices almost come down to the same thing after I pay the middleman (maybe a bit cheaper, but it would be more of a hassle) so I just have to live with it...

98 can be found for free if you search long enough, but it's merely okay...

QOH 99 is a must get, as it's pretty much what put the Doujin group on the map in North America. Fun play style, wacky combos, MULTI~!, and the 2 vs 2 is greatly enjoyable. Graphics are a bit dated, but well worth getting.

Party Breakers is still fun, but the changes might turn you of the game (It's not quite QOH 99).

98 is not even worth looking for.
99 is super fun, especially with other people.

I'd really like to get Melty Blood, but I don't want to pirate it and I don't want to pay himeya's super high prices, especially after they jacked up the shipping costs.

I also want Eternal Night or whatever the name of the new shooter from Alice is. There really needs to be an online store that sells these sort of games for reasonable prices.

Updated when I can... which isn't very often. ^_^;;

I'm late, but I agree - '99 is the one to go for, especially if you have four people to play with.

Thanks Brandon and everyone else who chipped in. I think I'll just order Re-Act and QoH 99 for now then and see how that goes.
