A Watership Down anime? OMG, I must find more news about this!

Watership Down's Rabbits
Premiering on 04/24, accoording to
NHK's Spring schedule

For those who don't know, it's based on an English novel of the same name. An animated version came out too sometime in the 70s (I think?).
The famous song "Bright Eyes" was used in the cartoon.

It's a story about bunnies which has them killing each other in the most violent way. Also: exile, tractors, bunny miscarriages and sexual connotations. Crazy stuff.

That could either be strange in a good way or the absolute worst thing ever. Here's to hoping the series doesn't turn out to be some sort of Yu-gi-oh collect the rabbits sort of nonsense or Hamtaro horror.

Why would they do that? Why would they ruin a perfect "Anime"?
I don't want to see the theme of this movie/novel ruined by some ninja kung fu bunnies jumping around and shooting stuff in their carrot mechs to protect the Neo Tokyo World Order.

Water Ship down was and is one of the best animated movies, imo. Hazel 4 ev0r! ;)

How are you doin'

Seriously. That was a beautiful animated movie and had a great style, especially the freaky as hell Rabbit hero (I forgot his name since it's been a while). I don't think this needs to be done at all, but I'll be open to it but I REALLY hope this doesn't supercede the old movie...

I had a picture book for the movie when I was little. I think (hope) I still have it somewhere.

Good movie I agree, also does a good job of frightening children.

Yeah, the schizo prophet rabbit was interesting...

Actually I liked the legend that was told at the start of that movie best of all.

What if it turns out to be a super gory, post-apocalyptic-exodus anime?
