quote: I don't think too many people play Beatmania IIDX around here, but it doesn't matter... One of the game's music artists, TaQ, will be releasing his first original album on April 21st for 3,000Y. It's called stromatolite and containes 9 tracks, a few of which are from IIDX / his web site.
If you like good electronic/techno/bigbeat, check out his new site here and give the samples a listen.
And then preorder at AmazonJPN.
Man, I've been willing to buy the DX II controller and some games for years, but now that I have the money, I can't find the controller available. So if you know any place where they still carry it, please tell me! It would be my dream (or one of them at least) coming true! Thanks in advance.
I'll check those samples later...

quote: By the way, can you tell me about the music style in the IIDX series? I love Beatmania Club Mix and The Sounds of Tokyo, and I hate 5th Mix and 6th Mix + Core Remix.
I haven't heard much 5 Key music at all, but I highly recommend heading over to DJ BAD's site and downloading some samples. He has just about every IIDX OST up there.
There's a huge variety of music in IIDX... that's the best thing about the series. There's every subgenre of electronic music you could possible imagine, plus a decent amount of pop-y stuff and even some freaky stuff like synthesized jazz, rock opera, and J-rap [shiver.]
I'm big on the electronic stuff like bigbeat and hard techno... Anything by TaQ is spectacular, really.
I think it's impossible to not find a few songs you really like in the series.
Recommended listening: Schlagwerk, Holic, Love is Dreaminess, Theme of DENJIN J, era, Sync, Spin the Disc, symbolic, Rislim... and... if I don't stop now, I'll go on forever. Just download anything and everything from that site.

Thanks for the link! I'm going to download some songs, so I can know about the music style of the games. Diversity of styles? That's a very good thing.

I enjoyed Club Mix, but Sounds of Tokyo was far too out-there for my tastes. 5th and 6th don't reflect the IIDX flavor, but I have a feeling you may be better off persuing the Pop n' Music series instead of IIDX. IIDX stays a bit more true to real dance genres and it sounds like the less genre-specific stylings of Club Mix and Pop 'n may be your bag.
Don't get me wrong. I hate 5th and 6th + core, but I like the rest. I love the European Edition, which is a compilation of songs from 2nd, 3rd, 4th and Gottamix, I believe. There are also some nice and exclusive songs too.
Never played Pop'n Music, but I guess I would like them a lot.
