I'm now 84 hours into Disgaea and close to the end of my 2nd Cycle, but I've hit a wall. The wall between myself and the secret levels. So once again, GameFAQs has turned out to be sort of inadequate, and any assistance would be appreciated.

The first question is a simple one:

Boss Monsters > Normal Monsters?

I have a fourth class Scarecrow (fourth from the bottom in the "Create New Character"/Transmigate column) with a Level 10 Legendary Nessie's Attack. This gives him a slightly higher attack than my Laharl's and fourth class Ronin's Diabolic Swords, but he still does far less damage. His Jackpot (highest level special attack) even does less damage to enemies than Laharl's and the Ronin's Nightsever specials, even though his Jackpot is a much higher level. Would this be remedied by transmigrating him into a naturally stronger class, such as a Manticore, Serpent, Vampire, Prinny God, or sixth class Scarecrow? It's not a big problem, but I feel like the gap between him and the sword users grows with each additional hour of play.

Second question: How do you think I should level up until I'm strong enough to take Cave of Ordeals 3 (the big pile of Cyclopses)? Should I just keep using the item world over and over and maybe toss in the Human World levels in the mean time? Most of my characters are level 85-95 and I just finished Human World 2, but can't finish Human World 3 yet. And yes, I do have a couple of Stronger Enemies bills passed right now. I recently turned it down from four to five Stronger Enemies bills, which is how I played through most of the 2nd Cycle, because it created a big gap between the enemy levels in the Story Mode and the enemy levels in Cave Of Ordeals, Human World, and Item World.

I hope I made all of that clear. Thanks for trying to understand it. And please don't talk about the details of the endings yet. I'm very close to get the Human Conqueror Ending and the Good Ending, but I haven't quite gotten there yet.

There are a couple of good level-up areas in the 2nd Galactic Graveyard area. Basically, any area where you can always stand on an invulnerability square works just fine - So just go for the area with the highest level stuff that meets those requirements.

If there isn't an area called "Galactic Graveyard" I'm sorry to have confused you. I haven't actually played the game a quite some time now.

Be kind to goblins.

Truth is, as far as I can tell, some monster classes are just always weaker than others. It isn't an "equal playing field".. but that doesn't mean I don't use them.. My scarecrow, Scroggins (I wanted to name him "Chet Scroggins", but it didn't fit..) is definately a mainstay in my force, even if he's weaker than some of the others. Laharl is also always ludicriously strong, if that helps, ha ha ha. -_-

Edit: Thinking about it, what rank did you start yours off at? If it was "good for nothing" or "Incompetent", he'll always suck until you transmigrate him.

I believe he started at Skilled (the fourth one). In fact, I think that almost every character I've ever made started at Skilled.

And my Laharl isn't ludicrously strong, which might be my problem. When I first played the game, I didn't know that you would need ludicrous levels later on, so I took the time to pace myself, i.e. keeping Laharl's abilities balanced with everyone else's and maintaining a small team. My main team is roughly nine or ten characters now, though, so I'm fine in that respect.

I might make my Scarecrow into a Halloween, I'm night really sure. He has enough mana for Distinguished now... hmmmm...

I'll try the Stellar Graveyard a little later. Thanks for the tip.

You can take Cave or Ordeals 3 now easily. All you have to do is use the throw trick. This is move all your characters to the bottom of the map. The cyclopses do not move or fire when someone is not in range. Braveheart up the guy you want to send to kill him and have someone throw him in range. Use any area attacks against the cyclopses, have the guy walk out of their range, and then repeat as needed. Simple if boring way to pass the level and level up characters.

Reminds me I never beat the final Cave level, though I did clear the cat-girl / succubi one after that.

Also - always remember that if you're purely after high stats, just focus on getting lvl 255 weapon level and level a good weapon to the max. Character levels mean nothing! Aside for the thief since it uses character levels to steal items.

As for damage levels... Jackpot is just made to have below average damage. Though, if you want a monster with skills that can deal high damage to a single enemy, Nekomata is the best, while Ryuuouzoku(flaming dragons) are best at large area attacks. But you don't need to level up monsters - capturing high level monsters is much faster.

My Laharl was incredibly weak in my game too, with my other characters maintaining an even level. But I got through fine, so it shouldn't be a problem.
