I hear at the Gainax 20th Anniversary they are going to have a 5 hour long movie where all they do is graphically murder all of their characters repeatedly.

Thanks for the link! (I was trying to figure out why the header for the first post in the thread would start with "Re:") : )

Wow. I'm getting out of work 4 hours early today, we've got an hour-and-a-half lunch, I've got a brand spanking new copy of CAPCOM's "Monster Hunter" waiting for me at home, and now you tell me that there's going to be a brand new Cutey Honey anime series? Could this day get any better?

A pity it seems to be slated for only 3 episodes, but perhaps this will make for a more focused, tightly-written storyline. The "Story" summary on the site's Introduction page makes it sound as if the new anime will stick a little closer to the source material than Cutey Honey F did (although I liked that series, too).

EDIT: Re:CH is firmly based on the live-action film's re-interpretation of Cutey Honey (rather than high school students, Honey is an OL while Natsuko is a police detective; Panther Claw is a terrorist organization, rather than a criminal organization; etc.). In the previous paragraph, I was referring to the new film/anime returning to the "Honey is an android" concept, as opposed to the less-than-mechanical nature she possessed in Cutey Honey Flash.

Anything that'll get us more character designs from Hiramatsu Tadashi (damn, but I loved Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai) gets a thumbs up from me. Really happy with the costume designs I'm seeing on the Re: Cutey Honey site -- especially the outfit on the Report page.

Not sure I like the outfit redesign for Cutie Honey, but the character designs are nice and I'm looking forward to this greatly.

Even if Anno is directing it...I mean he wouldn't mess up Cutie Honey now, would he?

While I almost always prefer original concepts, I do like to see remakes that aren't afraid to take aspects of a manga/anime in new directions. I like the fact that, rather than go with the costume design straight out of the live-action film, they've decided to go with sort of a hybridization of the original costume and the film's (in that mainpage image, it gives her something of a Benten-ish (Urusei Yatsura) look, which is a good thing IMO).
