Don't know if you caught my comment in the other thread. You asked me what I liked about Dave the Barbarian. So,here's a copy and paste.
I love the designs. And yeah,I agree about the barbarian feel. The show does take place in the Middle Ages so I can see that,design-wise.
I love this show. It is HILARIOUS! Don't you think? I finally gave it a try a few weeks ago since everyone on earth seemed to be praising it,and I ended up loving it. Extremely funny and Chuckles is funnier than shit, too. Faffy is an idiot, but a loveable one. Fang is classic,"I Squash You All!" should be the catchphrase of the new millenium. :p
BTW,since you and I are the only ones on this board who love Disney for it's best, you gonna go see Home on the Range? Everyone's been hyping about it lately. Looks like Disney 2-D will go out with a funny bang. :)

I'm not so keen on the designs myself, as I already said, they seem too scattered... but I can look past that.

I have to agree the show is funny, I didn't think so from the commericals (the clips they showed look like they're trying to hard) but what's in the actual show works very well.

I don't plan on seeing "Home of the Range"... I may rent it, but not in theatres.
This picture is unusally orange no?

quote: I mean, we already saw in Kingdom Hearts those characters don't look all that bad in 3D.... and keeping something 2D for 'tradition' alone is a bit silly... I mean if Walt had followed the tradition of cartoons being silent, Steamboat Willie would have flopped just as hard the first 2 Mickey Mouse cartoons and there'd be no Disney!
Well, if you're just looking at it on the grounds of tradition or whatever, then think of it this way- cartoons have been 2D for a much, much longer period of time than they have been without audio.
That aside, the only models in the group that I found appealing at all were the models of the nephews. Mickey and Minnie had really weird mouths... Their upper lips are too long, at the very least. I can't quite put my finger on the reason why, but that shot of Donald is weird-looking, too... but I'm not sure what it is. His face is getting to me. It's like a drug-induced happy face or something. Heh heh. Hopefully, if they do any real theater releases in 3D, they'll get modeling and rigging issues worked out.
I thought this quote was funny- “We were just getting ready to send it off to the 2D studios, and at that meeting, we said, ‘You know what, lets make it in CG.’ And so we got together with some sub-contractors [Blur Studio and Sparx], who were very industrious, and we all agreed to jump into CG at the last minute.” Ehhhh. That's like saying, "You know what? Let's try to make it look like anime" at the last minute. "Well, WHY do you want to do that?" "Umm, because it would be kind cool..." -_- Man, if you're going to change the style, change it for a reason. I realize this is some straight-to-video thing and not a "real effort," but it's still not really a great reason for changing the style. I mean, the fact that they're making a whole CG movie they had planned in 2D around "we wanted to see them in 3D" instead of just experimenting and trying 3D models out and THEN writing a story involving the 3D characters is what's bothering me. 2D and 3D aren't better or worse than each other; they're different methods. And of course there's stop-motion as well... All of those methods have different qualities, and throwing away one in favor of another for reasons like "this other method's newer and cooler" isn't a good enough reason. I wouldn't complain so much about this if it were just an experiment, but given the fact that they've gotten rid of all of those animators and are working toward 3D IS TEH R0X0RS, I see this project as a bad thing.
Anyway, I know you probably won't agree with me, but maybe you'll understand why people are so disgusted about Disney's change to 3D...

Yep,and you're not the only one who feels this way,Undead Fred. Lots of people have been saying more or less what you stated.
I mean,3-D is good to a certain extent, but it would be a sad sad world if everything were changed into 3-D. But that's another point altogether.
And as for 2-D stuff, there's always Disney's The Three Musketeers to look forward to. That looks pretty interesting. Not too mention Home on the Range.

Yeah. As for the 2D stuff, I hadn't heard really anything about the Three Musketeers thing, but I've seen the trailers for Home on the Range. Personally, I'm kind of interested in it... the style is interesting, and it looks like a new story... so I wouldn't mind checking it out (I doubt I'll see it in the theaters, though).
