translation : the game is at an early stage, that's why there are no energy bars on the pic. Every character from Zero 3 should appear (at least Karin and Cammy are confirmed) and for the new characters, at least Joe and Retsu from SF1 will appear.
...
OK, now watch carefully the logo in the upper left of the screen...

A master of Ryu's style is confirmed as being playable. According to a Chinese magazine that interviewed Capcom China. Also a character will be imported from a Capcom game not previously featured in SF.

lmao I always loved the sound in the original SF, even if it was shitty.

Well, hopefully, this isn't a big 'ol hoax. The screenshot provided looks high-res, so maybe Capcom will finally stop being lazy? Time will reveal more, I guess.

I knew this was fake before even seeing the Pic. Capcom has stated on more than one occasion that the SFZ Series is finished, the SF2 series is finished, (Though apparently it doesn't affect SF2 Anniversary Edition since it doesn't add much) along with the SF3 Series. So, if they were to make a sequel to SF, it would be SF4.

And guess who was one of the first people I read post that Capcom stated they considered the SFZ series was finished? Why, it was Iggy! HE IS EVIL!!!

I didn't really believe it when I saw the topic (in fact, took me mind a second to register that it was the sequel to SFZ3 and not the sequel to the SFZ OAV that the topic was talking about), although it did get me thinking about how one of the reasons they said there wouldn't be a new SFZ was because the storyline was finished which got me thinking that SFZ3 does have a whole lot of plot holes that could either use some patching up or some better representation in the game (*cough* Dolls *cough*)

Well,I'm skeptical for now. But thanks for the link anyway,Iggy.

Well,at least it's nice to see the awesome Karin and Cammy busting out their martial arts on each other.

They did say it. Even Iggy stated this in the past, but I really don't want to reprint his old post seeing as how this is his Thread and all but I tend to save things like this so I will if he allows.

Capcom is not really too keen on making 2D Fighters right now, so we will be infact lucky if we get SF4 whithin the time frame of ten years. I want to create another Thread discussing this in detail, so I'll try to do that tomorrow.

I recall Capcom saying that sort of thing too, being "done" with all their SF series and if they were to make another one, then it would be something new.

My question is, how much of their staff do they still have? I somehow don't feel as if the people who made Streetfighter/Vampire/etc before have simply been moved over to work on Monster Hunter. Or perhaps they've just entered the endless Megaman hell that Capcom has plunged us into now.

I'm sure someone here knows the "Capcom Fighting Game Worker Flight". I assume (and I think I remember hearing this) that one team works with Arc Systems now?

I lost the interview, and I'm very sad of it, but it was the interview just before (or after) the release of CvS1. Interesting facts : they were making CvS2 (interesting fact given that they just made the beta test of CvS1, and it was such a kusoge), they thought to put Clark in it but at the last time they thought they needed more women and put Vice instead (and Andy also I think), but also that "SFZero series is finished, SF3 series is finished, and, we said it in a lot more interviews, but the Vampire savior is finished" (and maybe MvC also).
Gnnnaaaah, I lost the paper !!!!

Edit : It seems Capcom got rid of all their 2D departement, men and machines.

Didn't they make a couple more Street Fighters after CvS1? Like when they add Eagle and release more Game boy versions and stuff.
I believe you guys that Capcom said it. Capcom may have believed their words at the time....but I think that their statement would turn out to not be true.

CVS2 was their last true sequel. The Gameboy versions have extras, but they are not sequels.

If it helps, despite what people on the Net keep saying, Capcom is involved with making Sammy vs. Capcom. For those who still argue that Sammy will make the game alone, please reread the last two paragraphs in the article where the news first appeared in Gamespot, and hear it from Noritaka Funamizu, The main creator of Street Fighter himself. It will still be mostly Sammy though I feel.

Over at SRK, Erik Ko, the Editor of the US SF Comic was saying how they maybe cramming a lot of things in the comic at once but that was because they only have the SF license for 3 years. When people conjectured that was because Capcom would maybe release SF4 at such time (it coincides with the rumor that SF4 would be released in 2007/2008. This rumor started because in SF Eternal, the creators of SF Eternal said "if" they "were" to make a sequel to SF, it would be for SF's 20TH Anniversary and not their 15TH Anniversary.) Here's what Erik Ko said regarding that -

"Not sure IF Capcom will be releasing another SF game anytime soon. Last time I talked with them, I know they are not too confident in 2D Fighters... but I know the Anniversary Hyper SF release has proven to be otherwise."

The SFA3 port to the GBA was handled by Crawfish, not Capcom. And the only thing really different about it was that it added in Eagle, Maki, and Yun, which wasn't really "new" heresay since those three were pretty much ported entirely from CvS2 (with only a couple edits made to fit them into the SFA3 engine but nothing big). And even then, the porting and all was handled by Crawfish (although I guess Capcom was possibly responsible for the added win quotes, but that's not saying much).

SF2 Anniversary Edition is all the old SF2's crammed into one game. Don't think that really constitutes as new, either.

That's funny. I read that Capcom stated that SFZ3 and 3S would be the last of their respective series in 1997, long before either of those games even came out.
I think it was in an EGM (when they were still reliable I think, April fools stuff not counting), where they showed a very, very early preview of 3S (then referred to as Third Impact) that had a Chun-Li win portrait in the same style as NG/2I win portraits.

Really, why am I the only one who remembers this? Capcom not only said those games were going to be the last of their series, they said it years ago.

Argh. Why add to the craziness but there is something that I do want to say. Firstly, that yes, Capcom stated many times that SFZ3 was the last Zero game and that 3S was the last SF3 game.

BUT when SFZ3 was released, some honcho at Capcom said that because of SFZ3s success, Capcom was considering on making a sequel even though they had stated that Z3 was the last game in the series.

I AM NOT TALKING OUT OF MY BUTT. I probably heard that piece of info at the cafe but no one remembers it. Anyhoo, whatever. We're never gonna get new sf. Its the end of teh world. yadda yadda yadda

It's not just Capcom saying there wouldn't be another SFZ. I also couldn't believe it when I saw the topic title because even Udoneko is doubtful that we'll get a Street Fighter 4 because last he heard from Capcom, they said they were doubtful about 2D fighters in general these days. Besides, with Street Fighter Eternal saying that at best, we'd get a Street Fighter game in the year 2008 to 2009, I'd be amazed if any Street Fighter game in development were developed enough to even have a screenshot like that around.

Does anyone have a picture of that win portrait art? I've never seen that shot before.

Side note, but is it me or is EGM about the same as it's always been? Maybe it's because I re-read some old issues recently and wasn't impressed with what I found but I can't point to one period in game magazines that was superior to what's currently being produced.

I second that emotion. Well, at least for SFEX+@. I don't know about the later sequels.

ANother point I wanted to make was that maybe SFEX wasn't very succesful was also because it had poor character designs. Really, there are few SF characters that can be good 3D character designs IMO. SF characters are actually kind of plain and they rely more on subtle things like stances and specific animations. While 3D characters need to be more like hollywood movie characters and in your face. SFEX just had rather blah designs--- and don't get me wrong, I liked the game but really, the Arika characters didn't really fit in a 2D world or a 3D world. I loved them but against Tekken (which I don't play), they never stood a chance. Not even against VF and their more subdued but still iconic characters.

Given Capcom's strange sense of counting when SF's involved, it won't be SF 4; just some random SF game that takes place between SF 2 and SF 3.

Oh, believe me, I understand completely why it gets ragged on. Most of all it was never treated with the respect that it deserves (especially EX3, which most people hate but I love to death) by Capcom OR Arika, but people never took it seriously because of its characters and moves. To me it wa slike they took SSF2X, made it with 3D graphics, added super canceling & technical throw escapes (not just taking a smaller amount of damage like SSF2X) and threw it together.

Generally it seems that if anyone enjoys it even a little, they likely own it. Hell, the game has an excellent training mode (second only to VF4/Evo, IMO). I think that a lot of the reasons people give for hating EX are incredibly biased and personal reasons (beyond "normal" personal reasons). I mean, people can dislike a game if they want, I'm not saying they can't, it just seems to me that it wasn't given a full chance, especially EX2.
