Do you feel the framerate at which a game runs contributes to the atmosphere or presentation of the game? Not only for 3D games, for but 2D games too?
Relatedly, is there ever a situation where you feel a certain framerate for a game just isn't the right framerate for it? Say, if a game consistently runs at 60 fps, but you feel it should be running at 24 fps to be more filmlike? Or, if a game's atmosphere might be better represented with a smoother 60 fps framerate instead of a lower framerate (even if the hardware wasn't capable of outputting a higher framerate)?
Or, if you you don't really feel there's a right and wrong -- in situations where a game has a different framerate on two different platforms or two differently-powered computers, does the game's presentation just feel different (and not necessarily negative)?
At least for me, the lower framerates for the NES Double Dragon II and River City Ransom gave the games a unique feel. I also think part of what gave Final Fantasy VI its atmosphere was its smooth framerate, oddly -- I'm not certain just how to reason it.
As for 3D games -- though I heard complaints about how the N64 Zelda games weren't given higher framerates when ported to the Gamecube, I was actually pretty happy with the lower framerate. I kinda felt a smoother framerate would've taken away its feel of animation.
