quote: OK, here's a question:
Have the Azumanga DVD release the option to set the language to Japanese, or you only have the English dub?
Because, if the dub is not as good as you wanted, or you prefer the original voices, it's as easy as setting Japanese language and English subs.
(Maybe this question is too stupid?)
Speaking generally, it's safe to assume that any respectable anime distributor in North America would be committing market suicide if it didn't include a Japanese voice track, assuming one exists. (Er -- is it pretty much the same worldwide?)
[ I think the only exceptions are for series shown during kids' TV blocks... and I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the only anime series ADV has released as English-only lately (where Japanese was available) is Monster Rancher -- they only had VHS/DVD distribution rights on that one, as I believe the actual license to the series was granted to the troubled BKN Kids. Even then, I mentioned it quickly to ADV reps at a con, and they're interested in acquiring the license completely after BKN's issues get sorted out. Heh heh -- don't know if there'll still be a market for the series by the time that happens. Anyway, time to leave this tangent...!]
With regards to Azumanga Daioh here in North America, there's no question that ADV will release the DVDs with the Japanese voice track.
