I've only read rpgamer a little. Please tell me what's wrong with it.
I kid since I really haven't gone there in years so for all I know they've turned it around. However when I stopped reading basically it was a site with a mediocre fan community built on all the faqs and info Andrew Vestal (sic) had collected over the years.
A bunch of their editors were in high school and pretty immature. I can remember several stupid drama episodes that a more profesional site wouldn't have had (oh no one of our editors drew a slightly pornographic image). Their Q&A section was dumb; basically 13 year olds idolizing guys who were ripping off Seanbaby and being kickin' internet badasses. However at once point they got Googlshng (I have no idea how the hell he spells his retarded name) who is the king of all loser nerds. He wrote a article once about how he was one of 3 "Internet Celebrities" (him, Sharkey and Seanbaby) which was hilariously egotistical and pathetic at the same time. He's still writing there which is sad since most of the Q&A guys got tired of it after 6 months to a year and moved on with their lives. Also he had a "You can't tell what sex I am!!!" gimmick which was quite lame.
All their news was late and thegia outshone them in almost every way except for all the faqs and stuff which they really inherited anyway.
They might have turned it around (I don't know why they would since it seemed to serve their loyal fanbase fine) but I doubt it.
I don't really care that much about them; I just thought that it was funny that Square-Enix gives a shit what they think. It's like bragging they won a gamefaqs poll of the day or something.
EDIT: Also I'm not entirely sure but I'm pretty sure the old way to become an editor was to hang out in the IRQ channel all day and kiss google's ass a bunch.
