Latest editions of GameShark for PS2 will allow you to change regions, one at a time, to anything from R-1 to R-6 (can't remember if they can be set to R-0/R-ALL/R-FREE). The region change remains in effect until you change it again, or until you power-down the PS2. I've been told the latest editions of ProAction Replay work similarly.

Want to hear something evil? I have heard that some of the new DVDs being produced check to see if your player is set to region free. And if it is, it will refuse to play.
Damn. Well will those fools learn that fighting with your customers is a BAD idea. Geeeeeeze. People will continue to just work around their little locking schemes. I mean, really, the best answer is for them to do something that is reasonable for both the consumer and their business. But this one-sided BS is just BS.
Like the whole deal with regions. It would just be a whole lot better if businesses just got on the ball and ported high demand movies/games to the US faster. But no. They want to be in control and they want to take whatever amount of time they wish. Thats BS. If Capcom releases SF4 in Japan for the PS2, then Capcom USA better hurry and bring it over here otherwise I may buy the Japanese version.
Region codes are just an excuse to be lazy and greedy. Why fight us, the consumer. STUPID. okay, end rant.
 Bored? "160"
