Actually, I believe the furry fandom in Japan has been around for quite a few years. And I believe it doesn't have the sexual connotations the western world has of it. (safe link, comments concerning CSI episode inaccuracies)
(Let's all pray the extremities aren't as bad as they are in the western world, though...)

My two biggest problems with furries is that they want to feel like they are persecuted, and that they make up the LAMEST terminology: "Yiffing" "Skritching" etc. I mean come on.

Understand. We don't actively hate and want to kill them. We are really frikkin' annoyed that they have a sexual preference that is so far off of the mainstream and totally unappealing to the Average Joe, and yet they feel the need to jump out in public and proclaim their greatness and that the world oppresses them. It's like the Black Panthers. If they'd just quietly go about their business and keep their private manners private, this wouldn't be so much of an issue. For instance, while I like porn quite a bit, I don't go around waving pictures I printed from the Internet around in people's faces. It would be ridiculous. If furries handled this in the Japanese way (do what you want, just leave me out of it), it would be so much less annoying.

I disagree. It would be worse to say I actually hate the actual people. I personally believe that you shouldn't hate anyone, though you don't have to like everyone (and you can certainly reserve the right to dislike their choices). And there is a difference between furries and Jews, Germans, etc. Jewish people and German people and etc. are an ethnicity, furries are people with a crazy fetish (again, I have the right to dislike someones choice. Being a furry is a choice, a person is not born a furry). If furries are officially a minority or culture, then I am officially a very scared man.
Another point you may want to take into consideration is that when I first posted "I hate furries so much" in a post, it was the only thing that I posted (As in I only posted one line, if I wanted to write out reasons I don't like furries the post would've actually had content). I was really just joking around and you took it very seriously and then defended furries comparing them to ethnic minorities... Because of this stance, Joe, you have some very important questions to ask yourself, for example, you may ask yourself, "Am I a furry?"

I agree, you don't have to like everyone. I think that would be much more stressfull in the long haul. But I just didn't agree with stating you don't like a group of people based on what thier likes are or arn't. I still believe that to be prejudicial and doesn't refect (uaually) who they are as people. But when your online I guees you don't really know these people aside from who they claim to be, and yeah, that can get annoying.
Am I a furry? No, I don't wear tails or ears or think I'm an animal in a human body nor do I go for any of the other antho oddities that get tagged on to the fandom. I do draw antho pics (naught ones at that... hmmm I guess that would count as an oddity...) and I have been to AnthroCon to sell my art and truth be told... these people are, in all thier bizzarness, so harmless it's funny. They're good people, generally.
Okay, I've said my two bits... and then some. This board can do with out any furry activity... I apologize for my ranting and hope I haven't lost face here. I hope I'm still welcome here to be honest. Ah, well... I'm not jaded against anyone here and I hope people arn't jaded against me.
