It's not nice to laugh at them.
Well, maybe they deserve it.
Anyway, the director's cut will be 1 month late.
At least we will be SURE it will be the real final version of the end forever real.
Until SO3 director's cut international version + last alternate costume of the moe death.
And I didn't noticed the game was on 2 DVD now. Oh, I'm sure those who bought the 1st version and its bugs will enchanted to buy the same game again for 6800 yens...

Just t make sure I'm clear on this, there has been no us release for this game right?

And as of now, it's still TBA for either of them?

No US release yet.

Gamestop has the game release as 4/5/2004, but it has been delayed several times.

If I worked on Babbages' website I would first set the release day to December 8, 2003. Then I'd write a script that would increase the date by one every night at midnight.

It was announced a LONG time ago before the DC was ever announced for Japan, and since there's no official release date that we know of, I can only hope that maybe they'll treat us right and give us the DC version.

I bet as a reward for making us wait so long they will give us the regular version.

Is the game even good? every time a thread pops out about Star OCean 3 its mainly about how horrible the bug is. What is so bad about the bug anyway?

I never managed to get a solid answer to this...
I guess it's OK at least, or they would not have done such a massive work on it, 2 new playable characters, new dongeon(s?), new scenarios...

Personally I didn't care about Star Ocean 3 until I heard about the Director's Cut. That actually got me interested in the thing. And on that vein, if it isn't the Director's Cut we're getting, well... I'd probably not care. But it would be nice.

The bug? I believe it was something rather simple that froze or crashed the game, forgot what it was exactly.

GameSpot - In Japan, Enix has begun to ship fixed copies of its latest PlayStation 2 RPG, Star Ocean - Till the End of Time. In the previous shipment, a bug existed in certain parts of the game (in the fight simulator and during a boss battle in the ruins) that caused it to freeze on PS2 consoles with the model number "SCPH-10000." The bug was due to a code glitch in Sony Computer Entertainment's library, distributed to third parties for use in software development.

Both Gamespot and RPGamer's anouncement of SO3: Dirrector's Cut hint that the US will just be getting the normal version. I don't think Squenix has said one way or another though, but given their history of not releasing enhanced versions of their games in the US in the past it wouldn't be surprising if they skipped over this one as well.

The main bug that people have been complaining about is that the game has a tendency to lockup durring battles. However, this only happens in the Japanese version of the game, and not the Asian version which is the one I own. However, both versions suffer from problems with the PS2 having difficulty reading data from the disc on occasion which can result in longer load times. It's somewhat annoying, but it doesn't happen frequenty enough to become a major issue.

As for the game itself, it's easily my favorite RPG on the PS2. While the story isn't anything special, the character interaction, combat system, and item creation make up for it. Unfortunately I this is my first Tri-Ace game, so I can't compair it to their pervious games, but from what I've heard it doesn't seem to be all that different from SO2.
