To be more precise, Tengu are supposed to be some kind of demons haunting mountains. they basically looks like humanoid crows, but their representation was somehow quickly contaminated by the Yamabushi (mountain anchoret). in fact, yambushoi are training in mountains, and are belived to own several magical powers, making them close to tengus. Actualy, Serious Karate wears a yambushi outfit. I don't think shin gouki transforms in ashura, but it make sense nonetheless, since ashura lives in the eternal battlefield hell. Stone dogs are not Fudo but Koma. fudo refers to Fudô Myô-ô, one of the science kings, who are the living manifestation of the magical power of buddhas in the esoterical part of buddhism.
