Without further adieu, what the hell is this bakla business?
How can I put this in terms people can understand? Bakla is Tagalog for, to put it loosely, weirdo. I won't go any further than that.
Tomo - Kimura-sensei why did you become a teacher? Kimura-sensei - CUZ I LIKE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS AND STUFF!

I just always figured it was a bastardization of baka (generic japanese insult). If native japanese speakers butchering english is called Engrish, what do you call it when native english speakers butcher japanese? <scratches head>

This is what I found. Baklaterrific! balka
"We tend to translate "bakla" into "gay" or "homosexual" but that rendition is not quite accurate. "Gay" or "homosexual" in a Western setting refers to someone attracted to the same sex. In Western societies, the "rule" is that gay men go to bed with gay men, lesbians with lesbians. In the Philippines, a bakla, at least traditional ones, will not go to bed with another bakla--such behavior is bound to set off thunder, lightning, earthquakes and, worst of all, tsismis"
Tsismis?
Oh, and welcome to the board, Ciel! Do you like curry?

quote: It's not quite dead, just out of major distribution. AFAIK Pepsi still makes the product, but getting it is a pain. I went to my hometown for the weekend, and they had it there, just in small quantities. Here in Boston, there's none! It's crazy.
Pepsi Blue's major website is gone, but it's still on Pepsi's product list. I hope it doesn't die out like Josta, but remains like a Coke II sort of product. Still produced though the general public thinks it's dead. As long as I can drink it.
As far as I could tell, it's dead, but any of the stuff I saw in the stores was just leftover stock? I hope that SOME part of Pepsi was still making Pepsi Blue, but I don't hold much hope for drinking it ever again.
THAT'S DANNY. His hometown is New Orleans.
