Apparantly my computer got a virus, because it deleted my windows 98 (and everything else on my computer I guess). Now I'm trying to find a place to download any windows at all (3.1, 95, etc.) so I can install it. I got this particular computer this summer, and 98 was already installed on it, and I didn't get a 98 disk from them (which sucks). I also couldn't find any other Windows disk when I was home over the weekend (except a Windows XP upgrade disk). So I have no Windows disk to use to get my computer running again. I am posting this from school and have been trying to get a windows disk from anyone at school but none of them have one (yet). If any of you can give me a download site where I can download a windows program for free, please do. (I don't know much about it, it may not be possible to download it, but if it is I need to know). I can't download it from Kazaa or anything like that here at the school, or I would. Please help me out. Thanks. (I know I should've had a backup, but I didn't. This kind of thing has never happened to me before.)

I honestly don't think there's a way to get Windows XP's install program off the CD. I read the post and started to try, but I got stuck at the point of getting the files off the CD. If I try to access it, it just tries to do something to my current XP.
Otherwise to that, I can't seem to find anything useful on WinMX. I would suggest that someone try Kazaa, otherwise you'll have to get your hands on a CD.
Depending on where you live, I could probably mail you a copy of the XP Pro CD that I have. It's from my cousin's workplace, so everything is legal.

If you can fit more than one hard drive in your computer, you could try buying a new hard drive and installing windows on that. Then install a live antivirus program. Set it up to scan on boot up. Then after windows has been installed and the antivirus set up, put your old hard drive in the 2nd slot and on boot up run a full virus check of your old hard drive. If you are lucky it would get rid of the virus and some of your files may still be on the drive. Otherwise you'll need to wipe the old drive for it to be useful. If you try this there is a risk to your new hard drive of getting the virus too, depending on your boot sequence and antivirus software.
