Today I went to the Saló del manga, a convention a la Otacon (waaay smaller, I guess ^_^) done here near Barcelona and I saw a few first episodes, some of them I was really eager to watch, precisely because of comments I read in this site, that's why I'm posting'em here.
Let us begin with...
- Sutepri/Scrapped Princess: I was really curious about this one, and I guess that I can't take much from the first episode only (So don't jump right to my throat after reading the comments, please ^_^U). Worst English translation I've ever seen in a sub apart, it seemed quite conventional: Capricious but noble cute li'l princess, a brave knight and a wizard who can't (or perhaps better, won't) control her own power, the End of the World near, physically impossible natural architecture, etc. One detail I really liked were those lines and patterns that appeared in the air when people casted magic, really nice. It's a plot element, I guess.
- Get Backers: Classic funny action series; so far as the first episode goes, of course (won't say it more, I know perfectly you can't judge a whole series only by its beginning). That Jagan (Hiei anyone?) of Ban's was quite interesting, you can't go wrong with hypnotic, nightmare-casting attacks ;).
- Mouse: (or R.O.D? Not sure about it, probably it was a last minute change) Euh... How could I describe it? Some kind of Lupin III but quite "ecchier" and waay sillier. The main character, Muou, is a substitute art teacher who has a double life as a generations old famous thief, Mouse, that his family has been acting as since the Sengoku era (yup, his ancestor was already called Mouse in English back then, by some guy/cop who loved foreign languages). The funny thing is that this guy is not only like Lupin or Kaito Kid, he's also like Andy Bogard: He has three, euh..., female servants (literally) who are anxious to please him in aaall ways possible (literally too), but he keeps running away from them as if they were infectious. You know the rest: bounciness (with sound effects included ) everywhere, unnecessarily "spicy" camera angles anytime some girl is on screen (so many panties), smart cop and silly cop obsessed about catching the thief, stupid enough-to-not-need-to-care-about plot, blah, blah, blah....
- Spiral: Ahhh, sounds familiar... Young high school guy helping Police officer to solve a murder case, he comes out with the solution right at the end thanks to some clue and there's what appears to be some obscure plot behind the scenes. Did I hear Meitantei Conan? This one, though, seems to probably add supernatural elements as something called "Blade Children" appears. Nothing more from the first chapter.
- Ninja Scroll, TV series, English dub. Didn't like it much, I prefer Naruto all the way; its freaks are less freak than Scroll's ones (that was just a silly comment ).
- Initial D: Speed Racer! Another one I was willing to see, mainly from Gekiganger's (was it Gekiganger's? Else I'm sorry) av. Ugly 3D graphics for the cars and ugly ending, but really interesting idea of the main character having no real interest in Car Racing (like Yawara in judo) that I hope it has kept as it went on (doubt it though), since it's been daily routine for him. I wonder, why did he get scared when the other guy whose name I don't remember drove fast along the road? My theory is because he's so used to do it in such a safe way he got scared seeing how dangerously the other one drove. No?
And that be all, too bad I missed I's and Naruto (with Studio Pierrot in there), which I was interested in too. Lemme add in the personal side that I'm glad they decided to publish Hellsing in Spanish right when I was most interested about it (Yay!), and that I really enjoyed the Cosplaying Contest: between aaall those many Narutos, FFX-2s and FFs in general, Sakuras and Chobits there were some really funny ones, like the Kinton Cloud, from DB , old Dungeons & Dragons series' characters (TM y Porcellino: con música de Parchís incluida, deliciosamente cutre ) and these characters from a Spanish promo, absolutely not related to manga, the Tanga Girls with choreography! People're nutz.
EDIT: Forgot to comment I had never heard that FFX-2 sung intro theme, either karaoked or playbacked, so many times. Ugh. Too many FFX-2 fangirl.
Mwahahaha! I'm gonna murder someone...

First of all, thanks for sharing with all those cannot afford go to Barcelona to see it.
Second... Parchis!!! That has to be great! In fact, I still like many Parchis openings and ending themes.
BTW, did they said something about airing Naruto here, either by cable or in a free TV?
Ah, y otra cosa... Últimamente he estado usando el messenger un poco más, y me parece que tú lo usabas... si es así, puedes añadirme si quieres: time_mage*borraesto*@*borraesto*hotmail.com

Nope that I heard of, but I missed the Studio Pierrot speach with Naruto and some others projected in there. Maybe they said something about it. If there's anything new you'll probably see the news in the next Anitype, Shirase or similiar.
