Soul Calibur and FF7... underrated? You don't mean overrated? Because both of those games, though good, got a lot more positive press than they deserved, and have a rabid, vocal, and sometimes very annoying fanbase each. Well, I don't know about the "real" SC community, but I've heard people talking about SC and SC2 in arcades and on... shudder, GameFAQs, and it made me cringe. And the FF7 fanbase... well, I think we all know what the WAI WAI SEPHIROTH WA KAWAII ***^_^**** cloud+sephirothsex+aeriscorpsesex fanbase can be like. I have the lovely honor of being semi-active in a lot of art-centered communities, and FF7 fans are still as annoying as they always were.
Don't get me wrong, the game was great. It's just the fanfic writers that get me crazy, sometimes.

Im not a fighting games freak at all but its tutorial/practice mode with missions, its OST, combo chaining system and the introduction of very remarcable characters in SF story...these reasons are more than enough for me to add it to this list
Good call. This is the only SFEX game I dug, but I did like it a lot. Graphics were pretty bad... like all the other EX games. Zangief looked like some kind of battery-operated robot. But I did like some of the new characters... like Skullomania! I love that guy. Always wanted to see him in 2D...

And...hehe, Tail Concerto. One of the, IMO; better titles for PSX (from Bandai!!) wich was absolutely underrated.
Again, right on. This game wasn't the best game ever, but it was very charming and very fun... a lot more endearing than most "bigger" productions I've played in the last few years.
Games I find severely underrated...
GBA: Wario Ware This game should have sold GBAs... I get the feeling a lot of the mainstream ignored it. I could be wrong, but... A lot of my friends didn't even want to give it a chance, but when I sat them down with it and the GB Player, they dug it.
PS2: Sky Odyssey First gen flying game next to nobody played. Last summer, my at-the-time girlfriend bought me a copy of it at random, as she heard me mention it once... it got to be extremely rare by this point, and I was really excited... but I had no clue how much fun it was actually going to be! It's a really great little game, and if you do find it, it'll only run you about $10. Excellent. If you liked Pilotwings, you'll love it.
Yanya Caballista: City Skater Okay, so it's not the best skateboarding game ever... but it is a lot of insane fun with a messed-up plot and fun villains. Plus the fingerboard controller is a very cool novelty... though it's a lot easier to play without.
Winback Improved port of the N64 game... hell, I still need a copy of this. Rented it once, it's pretty damn fun. It's like a cross between MGS and a third person Time Crisis, really. You spend a lot of time hiding behind an object, jumping out, returning fire, then going back. Doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but it really is.
Xbox: Indiana Jones This is a great action/adventure game! Why hasn't anyone else played it?! I wish I owned a copy... I ran up some vicious late fees on it. And if you like the engine in Indy, you'd like Buffy, which came before it, and is also an excellent game, whether you like the series or not. Though, the girl they got to be a Sarah Michelle Gellar soundalike is awful.
JSRF JSR fans seem to look down on this, though, to me, it played better than the original in every way possible. Everyone else seemed to ignore it. But it's a really awesome game... very stylish, and much faster than the first... though, much easier too.
Gunvalkyrie Another Sega Xbox game... one no one but me liked! The control is kinda tough to master, but once you do, this game isn't as impossible as everyone said it was. Pretty fun, though mindless, largely. Cool premise and designs. Reminds me of Starship Troopers sometimes...
NG: Windjammers

Anyway, I'm sure there's plenty of games we missed... let's come up with some more. Wheeeeeeee! This is my first Saturday where I can afford to do absolutely nothing that I've had all semester. I'm loving it.

its people like that that make ff7 look stupid, it's probably one of my favorite ff's (next to ff6 and ff4).

But what sabo meant wasn't games underrated by the mainstream but by the hardcore players BECAUSE they were being popular in the mainstream.
I don't know about SC but FF7 would be one indeed.
And I'm afraid I can't add any other game to the list ^_^U.

quote: well I think the most underated game is TLOZ:Wind Waker! even thought it got good reviwes and a pefect score from famitsu, I still think alot of people didn't play it, I wounder how many people played and finished the game on this board ? I know almost 15 people who loved ocarina of time , and hated The wind waker just because it look kiddy too bad they missed alot.
Yeah, I love it. I have people claim to me they don't think it was innovative (like I care, as long as it's fun) or they complain about the sea travel or anything else and claim it had a predictable story and claim they had no problem with the graphics, when I think that is exactly their problem. I know these people would've loved it if it was exactly like OoT with improved graphics. And then I know people who hate it because of the graphics and will admit it. And if people don't like it, that is their choice, and that's fine, but I don't appreciate them trying to feed me bullcrap about why they don't like it and why it's not a good game (I think it's a great game). Sorry, I was arguing with someone about it on the Capcom boards so I'm a little touchy about WW right now. I personally think it's one of the best games I've ever played. I didn't find it to be predictable.
I guess FFVII would fit into the topic (thus going against what I said in my other post on this thread), however, I don't underrate it or overrate it, I just hate it (though I did think it was pretty. I just didn't like the story is all). And, as with others opinions of Wind Waker, it is just my opinion.
