Well, I thought the teaser trailer was clever... and the first movie, while not good by any means, was certainly better than the vast majority of game-based movies (mainly because it didn't try to stick exactly to the source material).
Well, in the past, every game movie I've seen was bad because it was nothing like the game at all... Hee hee hee... [thinking of Double Dragon and Super Mario movies]
The first Resident Evil movie wasn't great, but the zombies weren't too bad. Plus, there were some nice kills (like the guy in the laser grid...). I'm okay with a game/comic/book movie straying from the source material, but it's irritating when they make the characters nothing like the ones in the original version. I guess that's one thing they did right about the RE movie- just make a new story in the RE world (although it seems like a replacement for the RE1 story instead of a supplement?). Eh, you get my point. I'll start rambling if I keep talking about this.

I think I'm the only one who enjoys most video game movies. I thought Street Fighter as good and hilarious, the first Mortal Combat ruled and the second one was OK, Super Mario Bros. was wierd as Hell but I still enjoyed it, etc., etc. I think this has to do with when I saw it. I was like 7 or 8 or so when these came out (I'm 18 now, so I guess you could figure out when I saw them by the release dates). When Street Fighter the movie came out, I had no clue that Street Fighter II had a story. I have the direction booklet lying around still too and I don't recall it mentioning much of a story. So they had to make one up for the movie. Now that Street Fighter has been given a pretty complex story, people hate it. That's why I think most video game movies are hated. Mario didn't have much of a story either. Italian plumbers save princess from dinosaur. Shit, even to this day that's what the story has been about in the long run. Now how can you make a story like that last for an hour and a half? Ya pretty much can't, so they cooked something up. I also thought the original Resident Evil was an awesome movie. I saw it twice in theaters. I personally can't wait to see the second one. I don't mind that it's taken characters from the series and messing with them. If I wanted to see a movie directly based on a game, I'd play Metal Gear Solid 2. ZIING!! The extra I is for extra zing. BOOM!!!!

I will agree that the first Mortal Kombat movie was a good video game movie. I also liked the TV show for MK that came on TNT.

For what it's worth, I thought the SMB movie was pretty cool, too. It was a very imaginitive way to work with a concept that had limited possibilities as a movie, and they produced something that, though very far from the games, can stand on its own and was cool to watch.

This I cannot approve of, however!
I think you'd be more inclined to play the Bouncer.
