I started playing it yesterday. I got the hang of everything, except for one thing. How do you check how a unit's parameters will change when an item is equipped (before equipping it). I've been trying to figure it out but no luck yet. According to the manual, your supposed to press "L" before equipping the item and it will show you "blue" for improvement or "red" for a decrease in your stats. Ive tried that but it doesnt work. Maybe im too early in the game?

It's supposed to be 'L', it is in the Japanese version, but somehow it got mapped to 'Start'. So, just hit start instead. Much less annoying than not being able to see the stat changes at all!
Some people just figured you couldn't check it at all. I'm really glad I found it... though I still don't have my own copy. : /

I'm just posting to say I hate you, because you are playing right now, and I'll have to wait 41 days to get it... Grrrr...
Nothing personal, but my hate is there.

I think one of the more exciting features of this game is the ability to fight another clan with the GBA link cable. I've wanted this for such a long time.
So far I have clocked in around 7 hours in the game. I'm enjoying it. I like and dislike the new job system- but oh well. I'm just glad that there is a new FFT game. Ticks me off that square took so long to make another one since the first one was such a cult classic.
Another positive: I understand the story in this game then on the first one!

So far, do you think that this game is worthy of the Tactics title?

W-W-Wait! Have you said that there IS a versus link cable mode?? Because in the Japanese version, it only had cooperative modes... If it's a new feature of the occidental versions... Then the wait has been worthy.
Also... do you know the changes they made for this version? There are a few:
- Cid is not drunken at the beggining of the game, now he's apologizing to some guys from work. - The damage>something, damage<something, and healing>something, healing<something laws have dissappeared. Thanks God. - Something about someone being now playable. I didn't payed much attention, just in case I found spoilers.
I think there are some more changes, but those ones are the ones I remember.

Yup, even for me (I'm not into tactic RPGs) this feature sounds REALLY good, for you people who enjoy this games.

Sorry for the useless post, but wanted to give my opinion.

I think I made a mistake. I don't think there is a versus battle option in the game. When I go to the "Link" section of the in-game menu, I get four options, "Team Up," "Trade Items," "Trade Units," and "Leave." I guess there is no versus mode.
Please don't be mad at me! I swear I thought I saw something about a versus mode in here. Maybe it was wishful thinking.
Argh. I'll be sitting in the corner with a dunce cap on.

Agh, I supposed that. When something seems to be the most obvious feature, it isn't usually in the game.
Who thinks that putting a cooperation mode and NOT a versus mode, given the nature of the game is a stupid idea? Raise your hands.

I read a review (printed magazine even) that said that the only flaw in the game was not being able to check item stats, so they could have used your nifty tip!
