I've never played any AtL games before but I have to say this one was a pleasant experience. This is one of the few RPGs I've played that boldly minimizes the annoyance factor present in many RPGs and still manages to be fun. No complicated puzzles, no extensive exploration (nothing too maze-like anyway), nothing requiring any manual dexterity; just move from point A to point B while fighting battles one at a time and buying stuff that'll make you stronger along the way. The battles are kind of simple compared to most RPGs; however there's a lot of emphasis placed on positioning and rationing of resources, which is kind of different. The story - while predictable in spots - still has a few nice twists to it and many of the characters are quite likable (Bebedora... hehe). Also of note, the dubbing doesn't suck (although the lip sync is really off in some scenes), and even the translated theme song is well done. In fact, great music overall. I would recommend it to people looking for a lengthy but not too deep experience. Just watch out for the last battle... since I wasn't totally prepared, it took me 4 tries, and the one time I managed to win it took me 3 hours to finish so I'm freaking exhausted.
On a side note, I've been easily distracted from finishing BoF: Dragon Quarter. I'm in such a bad situation in that game from the last time I saved I don't think it's possible for me to get out... I think I'm starting to see why some people look on that game so negatively.

Haaa.... My last save is just like a saturday night, you are all alone in the streets and you need to RUSH to where a bathroom is... Damn, odds says that I'll need to re-start the game, I'm soo freaking screwed.
