I was at my local import shop yesterday, looking at KOF2002 and FF:CC, and I ended up getting KOF2002 because it was a known quantity, and I don't yet know how good FF:CC is as a single player game. Does anyone have it yet, can anyone tell me?

Do you have any other GC imports? I'd hold off on buying FF:CC until you know how well it works with the Freeloader, if you don't have a mod switch. The Freeloader bypasses the region check, it does NOT switch it. A lot of Japanese text becomes gibberish. That'd make playing the game hellish. I'm really glad I didn't drop cash for it at Otakon... I'm gonna wait for the US release.

My GC is Japanese, I bought it in Japan. I use a Freeloader for the few US games I have.

Aha, no problems then... of course, finding out if the game is fun is another one altogether. Sorry I can't help...

Wait, are you saying you know, or that you think there may be an issue between FF:CC and the freeloader? No game I have ever used has had a problem.

It's not an issue with FF:CC and the Freeloader, as much as it is US GameCubes in US mode with Japanese fonts. For some reason, some Japanese text displays fine... some reads as complete gibberish. One Piece Treasure Battle, as I'm playing it now, is loaded with gibberish. A region switch will allow normal function, though. I don't know all the details of the issue, but as best I can understand it, by bypassing the region check and not actually switching the region, it tries to display Japanese fonts as English, and boom, nonsensical explosion.

I don't have it, but among the people that do the overwhelming consensus is the game is worth it for multiplayer, but not worth it for single player. So only buy it if you have some friends to play with, otherwise it gets dull fast.
