Mina is kinda wacky. I don't know how I feel about such a projectil-y character being in SS.

Yup and they're great as usual. I guess all has been forgiven.

I feel the same way.

What's wrong with it? III had it (if I remember correctly). So, it can't be that bad.

Actually, didn't Galford have that role? So, it shouldn't be surprising to people. Oh and I don't mind having her like that. Of course, this means that people will roll a lot against her.

I think it would be quite difficult to make a close range-grabbler character with a bow.

Yep three had it, and 3 mind you despite it's cult following is regarded as the worst of the Samurai Showdown series by the majority of players out there.
It allows for an air borne option select (Who swings first in the air, will lose) and rather effective runaway if you utilize the instant jump feature to eliminate lag after an air borne attack. Couple that with the fact that ground to air anti air attacks in Samsho are generally skimpy and not altogether reliable. (Miss and eat standing/jumping C great game peace out) You have a relatively crappy feature.
I know that this alone turned away a lot of SS2 fans before they learned about the hellacious damage in 3. As long as crouching kickx453252 doesn't do half life and knock someone dizzy like in Samsho 3 maybe the game has hope lol.
I personally can deal with airblock but I know a lot of people who like the danger will Robinson air attacks of SS2. Jump in SS2 was very dangerous, for both attacker and defender. It wasn't 2 characters rubbing on each other in the block position lol.

Precisely. Air blocking needs to be met with meaty anti air ground attacks. Something Samsho doesn't really have, so is shouldn't have it. That's why games with airblocking work the ground to air attacks have good priority.
Well except in Marvels case, but that's why they've got AAA's.

Hmm, I could really do without air blocking... but with luck this game will find a decent balance. I'm hoping to have many pleasant surprises with this one.
